Ohio state trooper arrested for drunken assault

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvg/story?section=news/local&id=7550727&rss=rss-wtvg-article-7550727

The trooper arrested was a fellow guest at a wedding I attended Saturday (bride & groom lived across the street from us until late last year, when groom graduated from the academy).

DH and I discussed this the other day...because this happened in Sylvania (although DH is township not city) and groom called DH about it.  Our conversation turned to his (DH's belief) that there's drama at all weddings.

So...out of boredom today - what was the drama at yours (if DH is indeed correct)?  Out of this conversation, I learned of the drama coming out of ours (I was clueless)...apparently something developed between two married (but not to each other) guests and I was aware of a one night stand that occurred later that night between an unmarried and a married guest.  Years ago, after I left my brother's reception, there had been an all out brawl that started inside and carried outside.

Re: Ohio state trooper arrested for drunken assault

  • I'm with your DH, heh.
Let's see if I can remember everything from our wedding, lol!!

    1) My boss' wife fell and broke her arm on the dance floor.
    2) Some of DH's family left because people were "dancing inappropriately"
    3) A couple of people who were just "rides home" for other guests came in to the reception and started drinking and dancing.
    4) One of my bff's punched her DH in the face at the end of the reception and he bled all over his white tux shirt  (they were both in the wedding). She did it because he told her to do it... they were both clearly wasted.
    5) All of our friends that stayed at the hotel in the room block were kicked out at like 1am for being too loud.  Parents/other sober people had to go pick them up & take them home because they were all still drunk.

And honestly, I'm sure there were other things that went on that I didn't even know about.  I had an awesome DOC and she took care of a lot of things!!

Yes, I wonder how much she took care of for mine that I didn't even know about!

  • There really wasn't any drama at ours...  everyone had a great time.  But, we only had about 70 adults at the wedding...

I guess there was a little drama at the after-party (yep, at a bar...), but that was just one drunk person acting really silly and slightly inappropriate.  Stick out tongue  Also, one of my SILs dressed quite inappropriately, but we expected that.

  • we didn't find out about the drama at ours until months later....   apparently there was a dispute over the table that was reserved for my family (the sign had been moved...my mom witnessed this) and one of j's family members called the cops on my bil who did nothing but set the person straight on whose table it was.   nothing came of it(no arrests, no physical altercation, etc), but j and i got a good laugh out of it.
    Kris....I'm finally a Mrs! 10/11/08
  • My cake melted

My cousin who I told NOT to bring her bf, brought her BF and two kids (hs age)

I almost fired my moh and had a stand in ready that AM, just in case.

we ran out of bottled water before the ceremony even began.

but other darma wise it was pretty uneventful

  • Mine is funny drama.

First, a co-worker was caught with another co-worker giving him a BJ in the coat closet.  It took a few weeks to figure out who it was once we got our pictures back to identify who was missing.

Then, the same co-worker receiving the BJ, ended up making out with another girl.  (UGH!)

One of my best guys friends from work (married) was briefly talking to my other best girlfriend from work since she had just transferred to our facility.  Needless to say I was gone for 3 weeks after and came back to the two of them having an affair.  (rolling eyes). Which has now turned into his divorce from is wife, who got knocked up on a one night stand in October. Thank god she didn't tell anyone until after the divorce was final in January.

     HILARIOUS

One of my BM was sooo drunk she peed on her dress and shoes.  At her bachelorette party a year later we where telling the story.  Here to find out, she let one of her friends borrow the dress for another wedding without dry cleaning it.  The look on the girl face when she found out that she wore a dress that had been peeded on was PRICELESS!!!!

  • I really can't think of any drama that happened at our wedding.Which is kind of surprising because we know a lot of drunks.

    Wow!!

Mine all involved one side of my family...  To say my dad's family does not get along would be an understatement.  We did assigned seating to make sure certain people did not sit together, or it would have been really bad.  One aunt was getting married a few months after us, and another aunt was in the wedding.  Aunt getting married was using the same color we did, and my other aunt apparently hit up a few bridesmaids wanting to know if she could buy their dress to wear.  Mind you, she is not the same size (at least a few sizes larger).  When my sister told her no, she went and pouted to my grandma.  My grandma then walked up to my sister and said, "Don't think you Aunt --- would look fabulous in your dress?"  Never said one word to my sister about how nice she looked though.

Same aunt thought the music was too loud and asked DJ to turn the music down.  He turned the speaker away from her, and she then moved and sat in front of the speaker, and then continued to complain (the world revolves around her btw).  She ended up coming up to both C and I and telling us what a horrible time she was having and that she was leaving because our DJ would not listen to her.  She then proceeded to go get in my DJ's face about how rude and terrible he was.  This is after she caused all sorts of drama before (and after) the wedding.

    ?

    OMG, Now that is hilarious!!?

  • I don't really think we had any, at least not anything that bad....BIL didn't like me too much for much of M's and my dating relationship because he felt that I stole Matt from him, even though they had just changed and become individuals with different interests.  We got that all figured out about 6 months after the wedding and we're all doing well now.

A friend who had recently gotten married texted me a couple of days before the wedding asking if she could bring her MIL, saying that she "liked me so much" and "You were her favorite person at our wedding."  Only time I'd met the woman, and we'd already done the seating chart and final count, so I said I was sorry, but she couldn't.  This friend pestered me for the next few days about it, saying "She already got you a gift...." and I just kept saying the same answer.  Wedding day comes, and there's the MIL.  The day after when we were opening gifts, the big gift from her MIL was this cow kitchen set....creamer, butter dish, etc. that literally cost $2.00 at QVC.  I mean really, this is the bargaining chip for your MIL attending our wedding?  My girls were cracking up about that...."Ari what do you mean?  This is SO you!!"  Not really drama but just something that was super frustrating, and my BMs couldn't believe that she kept pestering me about it after I'd said no (the BP all went to Cedar Point together 2 days before the wedding and this girl was texting me about this seriously the entire time we were there.  I just stopped responding eventually after giving one final no, but my girls were going "Give me your phone, this chick's getting a piece of my mind.")  Then when we pulled up to the reception in the party bus, I saw her outside and went "Oh. My. Gosh."  The girls from CP asked what was up and I said "Well, there's the MIL!!"  They could not believe it.  This woman is all over our wedding video too, with her big blue scrunchie in her hair and her blue flip flops.  Definitely not matching the formality of the event we had, and the friend says "Thanks for letting me bring her!"  I just didn't even say anything.  Not the day to be having a fight.  But the MIL and her son just ate the meal, had quite a few drinks, and left leaving my friend there.  Glad she wanted to come so badly since she liked me so much.  It's just funny now.

Overall, we were SUPER lucky and any scheduling hiccups were solved (without me knowing about them) by our FANTASTIC day of coordinator.  I seriously recommend having one to everyone I know who gets engaged.

    3 years married already??

Wedding "Highlight" Video from our Reception!
Wedding Planning Bio!! My Married Bio!!

  • DH's boss and his wife have a total of 7 kids between them, though the kids were invited to the reception they found a sitter anyway and the wife got super drunk and started dancing on tables.

DH's little brother was wandering from table to table and drinking out of other peoples beers and ended up drunk but no one noticed. He was 11.

One of my bridesmaids somehow hit her toe with the door and broke it and bled all over my flip flops that she had borrowed. Luckily this was at the end of the night.

Not so much drama as annoyance to me... Our reception hall was in a park and there was a pond just across the road and our photog wanted sunset pics over the water... while DH and I were having these done is when the DJ decided it would be a good time to play all but about 3 of the songs that we had specifically requested. He also played my BIL and sisters song (which I put on my "play" list and noted that it was their song) during the dollar dance.
