I got this and it broke my heart. I'm not sure if it is real, but I think so. I would love to have a dog but my H doesn't want one right now. If you know anybody, a responsible good owner, pass along.
I have a name and contact number if interested.
I can't get the message to forward--but an adorable dog who is certified as a seizure alert dog needs a new family. She's in Charlotte,NC.
SWEET GIRL - She's older and has faithfully "worked" for her owner,,, sadly,, now there is no one for her and she was taken to Charlotte Animal Control,,, she's NOT going to make it out of there,,, Please,, if anyone can help her ,, please do not wait,, this IS a HIGH kill facility !!
Look how ADORABLE she is with her little underbite !!!
This is Lady Agnes. She was brought in as a stray in 2007 and adopted within a week. Agnes has spent the last three years with her owner who now has to go into assisted living. And Agnes is not allowed. The owner has no family that we can solicit. Agnes has spent the last three years as his seizure alert therapy dog and has her card with the certificate too. If anyone can help or put me in touch with people who could help that would be great. I have e-mailed therapy dog international and a group in Greensboro for seizure dogs. No answer yet so I need to throw out a broader net.
This is Agnes now.
Age - 6-7 yrs Temp- 103
Htwm- neg. Fecal- neg.
Physical exam- Great dog! House broken. Is a bit of a ?pet and wet? when nervous. Trained therapy dog for seizures. Looks great. Owner said that there was a lymphoma on her but didn't specify where. I was unable to find anything yet. Her medical history papers and therapy card are filed up front in the holding ward folder.
DHPP/Bordetella
Heartworm prev. (iverhart max)
3 yr Rabies current thru 3/8/2011
Already Chipped # 092377570
And this is the officer?s notes:
Please consider this surrendered pet. The animal originally came from us and has a microchip already, but was surrendered because the owner was moving to an assisted living center. I was told it spent a week in Greensboro being trained as a seizure therapy canine and the owner gave my some paperwork which included a card saying it was indeed a therapy pet. The owner also told me that the dog had a cyst on its back, but it was just a fatty cyst and caused the animal no harm. This owner also insisted I call him myself to let him know what happened to it, but he understood the terms of the surrender and signed my form.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Email-seizure therapy dog in Charlotte in need of home (is at a kill shelter)
This is heartbreaking. Unfortunately I do not know who could take her in I would keep calling local dog rescue groups possibly you can call Project Halo here in Charlotte and explain the situation or also Great Dane Rescue... they may have more suggestions for this pup as well!! I would def call both places and advise them of this story and if they can't take the pup they may know someone who can!!
This truly is heart breaking!! I wish I could take the dog myself but with 2 dogs and a cat already we just can't
Great news! I googled Charlotte Animal Control and Lady agnes and she has been placed...it truly is an AMAZING story!
