Is it a lot to ask for a new camara for my Birthday from my Dh? I found one for 160.00 and another for 250.00 it a nicer one then I have now but with a baby coming I will not be able to put my it down.

What kind of camara would you suggest?

It depends on what your "normal" range is. Of course, yes, with a baby perhaps some bending will be done. As for recs, my point and shoot is a Canon, getting close to 5 yrs old and it's still going (back then it was close to 300!). But there are tons of way nicer than mine digitals out there for even just $100. Technology for that has come much cheaper in the recent year or 2. But I think a camera is a practical gift with a baby coming. Talk with him. DH and I always discuss desired gifts around those times. For DH's bday, I got him a 16 gb HD/memory card digital camcorder, because we talked about one, especially when we have a baby. I ordered it just early last week before I knew I was pg. Expensive? Lil bit, but not too bad thanks to QVC easy pay plan

and it's something that will be used quite a bit, because DH likes playing with those toys. I was also willing to go a bit higher for a special 30th gift.

I have an online subscription to consumer reports... I looked really fast on there (not sure how long ago they did the digital camera test) but the three that are considered "best buys" are:

Sony CyberShot DSC-W380 ($140)

Canon PowerShot A490 ($110)

and Canon PowerShot A495 ($130)

They do have higher priced models that have higher ratings but these are the ones that they recommend for the best bang for your buck. The two canons only have a fair rating for handling shaking and can't zoom as you capture though.

Check cnet.com to see reviews on the ones you're interested in.

This was under "point and shoot" cameras. If you are interested in camcorders or something else, I could look that up too.

And actually, I went back and really looked at what I would personally buy, and I picked this out of the list, solely based on their recommendations:

Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS ELPH ($250) The other recommended models were over $300. (Also take a look at the Nikon Coolpix).

I don't think it's a lot to ask for, but it all depends on your expenses and if you can afford it. Talk it over with your DH - if you can afford it I'd go for it, but if not suggest saving for it like $20 a week or something because that's a little easier to swallow than $250 all at once.

I don't think that it is too much to ask for and you will be using it all the time when you have the baby!
