looking for ideas for 7/31 and 8/1
My best friend's birthday is July 31...last year another friend and I drove out to Coldwater to surprise her. This year, she and her husband want to come here for the weekend. We had considered getting a cottage at Camp Perry and go to PIB and/or CP, but can't get the cottage and none of us want to pay a crapload of money to stay in that area (Camp Perry would have been cheap for us). So now we're searching for ideas of something to do that weekend...PIB and CP are still considerations...but any ideas of other all day deals we could do?

You could double up on some things if they're short. I was looking at discoverohio.com and michigan.org. Check travelchannel.com and budgettravelonline.com for more ideas.
Unfortunately (because this was one of my suggestions) the casinos have been ruled out. I'm bummed (and I'd have had to keep it to Detroit as I don't have a passport yet...on my to do list).
It'd probably be much easier if it was just me and the girls, but with the husbands included...not so much. I've suggested we set them free on the golf course and do our own thing...but she wants it to be all inclusive. And for what it's worth...may be an uneven number as our other friend is single.
