insight on the STNA route...i know we discussed this before.sorry
I have no idea where I would find it...I know someone has a dh or family in the healthcare field.
My mom is thinking of doing the STNA think maybe however the $8-9 to start off is sort of a turn off b/c she needs more than that to survive.
What are the thought? She probably wouldn't persue going on to be an RN or a higher up nurse and go though years and years of schooling.
So thoughts are welcome or any other ideas or promising careers to look into that don't equal years and years of school.
Re: insight on the STNA route...i know we discussed this before.sorry
STNA can be good in the right setting. It's a lot of bed changes, bed baths, helping patients up and down and to the bathroom, taking vital signs, checking blood sugars ... that kind of thing. I've had two semesters of clinicals and seen STNA's at both places. One was a nursing home - which I wouldn't recommend. Very high patient to STNA ratio. Second was at Flower hospital ... that didn't seem too bad. The guy that was usually there was kept pretty busy but he never really complained about it all.
My sister loved her STNA job.
Hope that helps a little.
