Harry Potter Land at Universal

My friend is there right now and posting pictures on facebook and I am SO JEALOUS. Did any AFSCBers actually make it down there for it? Is it as awesome as I've hyped it up to be in my mind?

  • I thought someone here was going.  Maybe not a super regular poster, but someone.  WHO ARE YOU?  COME OUT.  HOMINEM REVELIO.

We should stop here, first, HT.

  • They definitely need to move this somewhere with a colder/rainier climate.  I want to walk around in a scarf and drink warm butterbeer, dude.

  • I was there on Tuesday and it was amazing.  I'm looking at some of my iphone pics now and thinking about what a crazy person I must have looked like, snapping pictures of everything in sight, all willy-nilly.  I am trying to snag some from FB but I apologize ahead of time for the lack of order.

Frozen butterbeer was the best thing I've ever had in my entire life.  I had 5 of them and wish I had gotten more.

  • It was Coley I was thinking of!  But I am jealous of you, too, BBQ.

  • I will have to take out a loan if I ever go there because I am going to go on an insane shopping spree.  I'll need to load up on all the official gear.

  • The lines were INSANE, Cali, specifically for the shops.  We got there at 9 AM and were given tickets near the park entrance to prove that we were in "line" for the Harry Potter section of the park.  We kept seeing people walking away from HP with Universal/HP shopping bags and were a little confused as to why they were leaving so early.  Turns out they were going to get their wands/chocolate frogs/extendable ears early because the line for Ollivanders was 2.5 hours at 9:15 in the morning.  Zonko's and Honeyduke's were a combined line and not too long but the shops were SMALL!

  • I am so excited. I know it'll be a PITA to haul the kiddo and all the crap that needs to accompany any time away from the house but I don't care. I'm veiling the trip as a chance for my family to meet her but I plan on leaving her with them while we have fun at the parks.

  • Chocolate Frog in the window of Honeydukes.  It was a mechanical box that opened and then the frog hopped a bit.

  • My mom has literally been following the building of this park for 3-4 years now. She would visit the website weekly and give me updates about when they would start construction and how far along they are. The funny thing is, she is the least of the HP fans in my family; she never even finished the books and can't remember what happens in most of the movies.
