MPC goes even lower - Michelle Obama

Um...somebody tell these people that the economy is collapsing and maybe there are more important issues that this?  Sidley Austin employs hundreds of attorneys around the country.  Are they all terrorist sympathizers too?

Can this be a unity horse issue?  Please...?!

From TPM Election Central ...

The McCain campaign is now broadening their attack on Obama's past association with William Ayers to include Michelle Obama -- even though McCain has repeatedly said spouses should be off limits during the campaign.

The attack? Bernardine Dohrn, Ayers' wife and fellow former Weatherman, went to work in 1984 for the major Chicago-based national law firm of Sidley & Austin, and three years later, Michelle joined the mega-firm as well.

That's the entire attack. We wish we were joking. But we aren't.

  • This shizz has gone totally off the rails!!!!  I feel like I just woke up in bizarro world.  Seriously, WTF?

  • Oh for crying out loud.

See siggy for a fantastic Andrew Sullivan quote that sums up my feelings on this campaign very nicely.

  • Jesus H. Christ on a cracker. These connections are getting thinner and thinner every day.

What's next, an accusation that Obama's a crazy mass-murderer because he and Charles Manson bought the same book from Amazon.com?

Or that Michelle Obama is a man-hating feminazi because she wears the same kind of pantyhose that Andrea Dworkin wears?

(I know that last one's a stretch. I doubt Andrea Dworkin would be caught dead in pantyhose.)

  • Don't give them any ideas, Brittany.

Sullivan has it right about the fear all right.

This is a better train wreck than any reality TV.

  • WOW.

  • The thing is he's stirred the pot too long, and now he can't go back. Obama and Biden have been prefacing every statement about McCain with gratitude and praise for his service and him as a person.

MCP has been riling up their crowd about Obama "palling around with terrorists", been totally condescending to him in debates, etc etc, and now wants to turn it around and play the respectful statesmen?

The crowd's not buyin' it and neither am I.

Ditto.  FI used to work for them.  I guess I'm marrying a terrorist.....

McCain calls Obama 'decent person,' is booed

McCain sort of can't win here.

    Parnes reports from Minnesota:

A man in the audience stood up and told McCain he's "scared" of an Obama presidency and who he'd select for the Supreme Court.

"I have to tell you. Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don't have to be scared of as president of the United States," McCain said as the crowd booed and shouted "Come on, John!"

"If I didn't think I'd be a heck of a lot better, I wouldn't be running for president of the united states."

If it's not the Times editorial board jeering him, it's his own crowd.

    Headline I'd like to see:

    McCain Impotent

Candidate Unable to Control His Own Followers -e r, not Followers since they don't follow him. Um, er - His Own Rally Attendees
