My heart is breaking....

I get emails from local rescue groups for the state of Alabama... this poor baby kitty has and irreparable brain anomaly.  Specifically cerebellar hypoplasia. My heart is breaking for her because she's so stinkin cute.  She will permanently have this little head tilt.

  • Stella does this exact head tilt when HH and I are talking about something and she can't quite figure out what we're saying.  We used to get it a lot when she was younger, but I think she's pretty much mastered the English language so we don't get it as much now (I'm not joking - she totally understands everything we say).  Although she still does it if we say anything that she might construe as "cookies" or "treats".  e.g. if I say "it is out in the street" she'll be like "did she say treat?" *head tilt*

That kitten is pretty friggin adorable, and I am not a cat person.  Would it walk in circles because of this?

  • Poor thing isn't very active because of her condition.  She has coordination issues which makes her a very "chill" cat.  Just wants to sit there and cuddle constantly.  Could also have vestibular disease which is an inner ear disorder which causes vertigo (so basically she could be dizzy and fall over a lot).  I SO want to snuggle her!!!

  • Lots of kitties who have had distemper suffer from problems like this.. it's super sad. :(
  • Are you going to adopt her?  Poor kitty...
  • poor sweet baby. She is precious
  • I SOOOO would adopt her if I could.  The description says she needs a quiet home, which she wouldn't be able to get at my place.  My horse-dog and the 4 cats would probably terrorize the poor baby.  If I didn't have any animals right now, I would SOOOO scoop her up!!

  • These cats can make great pets.  One of my classmates had one that was severly  affected.  The cat couldn't walk but would roll to where he wanted to go.  I don't know that everyone could handle a cat that severly affected but the cat seemed very happy.  One of my cats has a very mild form.  She gets intention tremors and can't jump very well but she can run and play like a normal cat.  I love adopting special needs animals but I understand not everyone can.  I am fortunate to work in the veterinary field so I am able to do this.  I hope she finds a good home!
