To me love isn't a feeling it is an act. It is something that you work on and nurture. It is something that grows with commonality. It is something you respect and take pleasure in but you also sometime have to hold onto by the fingernails and pray that the other person is holding on just as tight in the worldwind of life.
I have heard people say that it is a feeling but I don't tend to agree. Yes we feel things all the time. Feelings tend to fade. What you build together as a life I think means so much and it speaks of your love.
This weekend do something simple but special for your spouse that is something you wouldn't typically do. Just to let him know how much you care.
Re: Love... What is it to you?
That's a great challenge, Pam!
To me, love is a verb. People often say they are "in love," but now that I've been in a few longer-term relationships, I guess I understand more that being "in love" is about making the effort to maintain your relationship through actions, whether that be a surprise treat, back rub, or just going out of your way to be extra thoughtful. I don't think any of us quite understands the entirety of what love is (maybe we should ask that couple who'd been married 72 yrs!!) but I'm expecting to continue learning the longer I live and grow with DH!
What a great challenge!
I need to come up with something special to do... I suck at creativity.
Okay, so here's my big, awesome plan. I got a little "just because" card, and I'm going to leave it somewhere that he'll be sure to find it-- under his video game controller!
