Update: Guests at our house

First off, happy Friday everyone! I hope every one has some great weekend plans!

Now to the update:

I talked to H on Monday about our house guests who seem to think we are the freakin' Super 8 or something and he said he's getting sick of it too. I asked him what we should do and he said he would talk to them about it. So after work on Tuesday H tells me that they said the bathroom should be done by Saturday (Tomorrow). Well yesterday I talked to BM's wife and she said that they don't know if it will be done this weekend or not because they need help from her cousin and if he's out of town for the weekend, they can't finish it.  I just had to smile and nod to keep from freaking out.

H is just as frustrated as I am about the situation but he doesn't want to say anything and kick them out because he doesn't want to ruin his friendship with his BM. I understand that, really I do, but I WANT TO BE A NEWLY WED COUPLE!

CN: Guests claim they will be out by Saturday but that all depends on if they can get some help from a cousin, who may or may not be out of town for the weekend. H doesn't want to kick them out because he doesn't want to ruin his friendship.

  • Girl, I would have flipped my sh*t a long time ago.

  • Id say something along the lines of, I know you're trying to get the work done but we're a newly wed couple & we want to have loud passionate sex and we cant do that with you in the house.

Whats their number, I can call them & tell them for you if you want.

  • You are so patient and kind. I would have kicked them out by now.

  • I'm about ready to flip sh*t, trust me. If this goes on another few days, I will seriously rage.

I would love for you to call them and tell them about the loud, passionate sex that we would love to have without them but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able hear us with the amount of noise they make while having sex! Yes, they have VERY LOUD sex in our home! Sorry, it's early and that's my rant. I couldn't sleep last night because they were doing the no-pants-dance until heaven knows when.

Missy- I don't think it's kindness or patience that's keeping me from freaking out, it's more my fear of conflict.

  • That would be my deal breaker. Im sorry but your H may want to stay friends but if they really valued the friendship they wouldnt be screwing loudly at all hours of the night. Thats a slap in the face Im afraid.

  • That's what I said this morning! H, who could sleep through a bomb going off outside our bedroom, says that I must be exaggerating it and that "they wouldn't have sex in our house", it must just be the wind or something.  Can ya tell I'm grumpy?
  • Holy crap.  I don't know how you put up with that.  I'm like you- hate confrontation- but I definitely would say something about their noisy sex.  That's ridiculous.  They should know that's not ok, and maybe if you say something to them about it, they'll be more likely to try and get out.

I'd be losing it if I were you.  I'm pretty impressed you're still being so gracious.  I'm not sure if I could let H's fear of losing a friendship keep us from kicking them out.  Fingers crossed the cousin is in town this weekend...

  • What a crappy situation.  I'm like you and really hate conflict so I probably wouldn't say anything either, but I'd make it pretty obvious that they weren't welcome in my actions towards them.

That's annoying and disrespectful on their part and hopefully they get out soon.

  • The no-pants-dance... lol

Seriously, though, I think you and your H need to bite the bullet and have a sit down with them.  If handled correctly, then the friendship will remain intact.  Maybe cook and say- hey, I cooked.  Want some supper?  Then let them know you have a lot going on right now post wedding, that you value their friendship, but... and set a drop dead date.   Because if you don't, then tensions will get the best of you all, and the friendship will be strained or even ruined.  Someone is going to either blow up or get really passive aggressive.

  • I mentioned something to her this morning before she left to get her nails done. I reminded her that our house echos a bit and that the walls are a little thin so maybe, just maybe, they could try and lower the noise level a little. She just laughed and winked and said "You know how it is being a newly  wed." NO I DON'T BECAUSE YOU'RE IN OUR HOME!
  • You said they both have parents in the area right?  Politely tell them tonight that they are welcome to stay until tomorrow night but after that they need to find someplace else to go.

If you are afraid of confrontation then lie - you have other guests coming, the exterminator, you have come down with the swine flu, whatever!  They are going to continue to walk all over you if you don't speak up soon.

Oh, honey! Throw the kindness out the window. What you should do, you and H should have that nasty, porn star sex and keep them up and if either one of them complains, tell them they can get the hell out of your house.

  • I prob wouldve been freaking out on them already. That is ridiculous.

  • You guys are waay too nice. We would have been politely asked them to make other arrangements. Or have sex, every night, so loud that they would want to leave.lol

I understand helping out a friend. But they are being inconsiderate. Your friends should also understand that you are newly weds and need your a lone time.

I wouldnt do that to friends who werent married. Id stay a couple of days and then make other arrangements. Where is their consideration for you guys. I really hope that they are out by saturday.

  • OMG. Seriously, their crap would be out on the sidewalk by now. These people are seriously taking advantage of you and YH. (And personally, I think the friends decided to ruin the friendship when they abused your kindness and had crazy loud donkey sex in your house...)

If their stuff isn't out by tomorrow, kick them out. As dear old dad used to say "Don't give a sh!t about people who don't give a sh!t about you."

  • Becky! Get them out of your house!!!!! I cannot BELIEVE they would have loud sex in your freaking house! I would def. tell them to be out by tomorrow night. They have other places to go and they're hindering you and your hubby's newlywed time!! 3 weeks is by FAR fair enough girl!!
