1700s ship found at new WTC site

Bizarre yet cool - ship from 1700s found during construction at new WTC site. It was untouched by previous construction, 20 ft underground.

  • I saw that yesterday - it's SO fascinating!  Very weird, but really very cool.
  • Unrelated to the ship, the architects doing the WTC memorial are the same that are doing the new Arts Center at BGSU--which is very cool. And the BGSU building will be their first North American completed project.
  • That's so crazy. I wonder how this will effect the construction. I mean, wouldn't they have to stop construction to uncover all of this ship?

  • Construction is not stopping. The ship is well preserved from being underground for hundreds of years, but now that its uncovered it is deteriorating quickly. They hope to be done studying/photographing/etc by Sunday.
