WOW! I feel super stupid right now....

I am making homemade chicken pot pie. When the buzzer went off the first time, I thought it was done and it wasn't...so I have been checking and cooking it some more over the past 30 min. Well, I guess when I took it out the first time I had turned the oven off. So for the past 30 min the reason why it has not been cooking was bc the oven was cooling down. I'm so mad at myself. I started dinner late anyways and now it's 9:15pm and we are still waiting for it cook. Oh and this was only suppose to take 30 min to cook and it's been almost an hour. :)

Has anyway else done this?

Re: WOW! I feel super stupid right now....

  • awwww oops!  if it makes you feel any better, i didnt eat til 9:15pm either,.
  • Many years ago I left a pizza box on top of the stove and turned on the element instead of the oven. That was smart! Luckily the box was only smoking and I didn't have a full on fire!
  • In my first apartment I left the burner on with a sautee pan on top with a lid on it.  At about 3am I woke up and it was so hot in the apartment and I could smell burning and that was when I realized it.  The pan was absolutely black and burned.  At least you didn't almost burn down the house!
  • I went home one weekend in college and left my gas oven on the entire weekend. I came back Sunday night and walked into my apt and it was SO hot. I would have been in so much trouble if that place would have burnt down.

  • We have been using a toaster oven instead of the regular oven ever since we got it for our wedding. Brandon made a lasagna in it, and for some reason it always shuts off after 30 minutes. Unfortunately, it needed to be in the oven for around 55 minutes! Haha. Luckily, I checked on it before it had been off for very long, and dinner was not delayed by much.

  • I have definitely done that before!! I felt like such an idiot lol.

Also, the first night in our first apt, my HH hears me scream "OMG! IT'S ON FIRE" from me broiling the steaks. Haha, oh well live and learn!

  • Oh yeah lol I've done it. I've put things in the oven, gone back to check on them 15-20 minutes later and realized I didn't even turn in on in the first place! lol
