i have a friend coming over in a little while who i haven't seen since april because she has been hiking the appalachain trail. she is in NY for the weekend to see her DH.
this would be all well and good, and i'd be plenty proud of her, if she was doing it for the right reason. but she is doing it to get away from her DH, who is also a close friend of ours, and who has done nothing wrong to her. (might i also add that DH and i are the ones that set these two up in the first place.) she is frustrated in their marriage because she wants to move to oregon, and he is hesitant since his elderly mother lives in NY. so instead of going to counseling or whatever, she quit her job and left. no plans to ever come back to NY, stopped paying her share of the rent on their place, nada. ...and never told her friends she wasn't coming back.
hellooooooooooo, mid-life crisis!
anyway, now her H is at a point where he has processed it with his family and he is ready to move, but thinks they should still enter counseling to strengthen their marriage. sounds reasonable, right? not to her, she called him a "tyrant" and a "dictator."
i am FURIOUS with her, and have no idea how to act because i've known her for years and never seen her act this way--she is not one to name-call like this.
since i have no idea what to do when she gets here, i have decided to pour a glass of wine. it's my 12-o'clock-tail.
