Temperature POLL

What temperature do you keep your house in the summer?  Does it differ during the day or at night?

Re: Temperature POLL

  • I normally keep downstairs on around 76 and upsets around 77 plus a fan on in our room.. Upstairs is cooler than downstairs. DH would be comfortable if i had it on 79 probably..lol

  • I would love for our house to be at 78, but DH claims the highest he can go is 75 which leaves me freezing!
  • OMG. I would die at 78! We keep upstairs at 75-77 (that is where DD sleeps) and downstairs at 74 (where we sleep).

  • 77 during the day when no one's home, 71 at night for sleeping. that to me is still too warm, i can't wait for cooler temps, then we keep it at 65 overnight.

  • I'll turn it to 77 when no one is home, but it's usually at like 73 and we turn the fans on too.
  • Ours usually stays at 72.. sometimes when DH isn't home I'll turn it to 74-75, but he'd love to keep it at 70 if it didn't freeze me out!
  • We have the AC set at 81 right now. We often just turn it off at night.

  • I was actually talking about exactly this on Friday with coworkers. They both were more our parents age & said they keep their A/Cs around 77-78.  Ours right now is set at 73.  DH likes it at 71, but since he's working 2 jobs for the last two weeks & I was sitting at home freezing, I turned it up.  We have electric heat.  I've heard things are different with gas though.

You should be careful, I might move in!

I think our biggest problem is that I grew up in a house where it was freezing (like 68 all summer) and DH didn't have AC.  So I want it warmer since I'm tired of freezing, and it is the exact opposite.  "If we have AC we should be using it!"

  • We keep ours at 73 when we're at home, and turn it down to 71 at night when we go to sleep. We put it on about 77 or 78 when we leave the house. Im sure our electric bill is way higher than it could be if we kept it a bit higher and used our fans more but... I hate being hot. Embarrassed
  • During the summer we keep ours at 78 all day and overnight. It does get warm while we're sleeping, but our electric bills can be outrageous and it helps to keep them down.
  • We have a ceiling fan over our bed and in the living room with helps keep it pretty cool.

  • We keep ours at 77 all the time. We also use fans if we are in a certain room.
