House Guests Update

Well, they are still in our house. I am so miffed about it. Recap of our weekend/discussions.

Thursday, I asked her to please make sure the front door is locked when she comes in from whatever she is doing at night because she is the last one in. Lots of "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.... Sure, Sure, Sure" from her. I also mentioned that we really have enjoyed having them but that they need to find a place to stay after the weekend, we need our privacy and wouldn't it be nice to stay with your families? Her response? "Well we would but we've worn out our welcome at our families homes because that's where we stayed when we couldn't afford to live on our own."

Friday, I wake up to the FRONT DOOR HANGING WIDE OPEN! I'm not talking cracked or not locked, it was wide open for the whole world to see. I made DH walk around and make sure no one was in the house and that nothing was taken. I asked our guests about it that morning and her response was that she must have forgotten to shut it when she came in at 3 am, because she was a little drunk. I asked DH to talk to his BM about getting the F out of our house. DH said that they would be out by the end of the day.

Saturday, guess who is still at our house?! BM said the place they had lined up to stay at fell through and that they would be out by Monday.

Something tells me they won't be gone when I get home.

Re: House Guests Update

  • WTF?  Who leaves the door wide open?  I'm pretty sure that even when I've come home pukey drunk I could still shut the damn door.  That aside, I'm sorry you're still dealing with this.  It sounds like it could be over soon.  Vibes that they're outta there today.

  • Agreed, even at my drunkest I can shut a door. They need to get the F out. Now, they've put you (and your belongings) in harms way. It's like they have NO regard for your feelings. If they're not out when you get home, kick them out and tell them to go to their dang parents. If they REALLY don't want to be there, maybe they will get a move on to fix their bathroom.

xoxo don't lose your mind! If we were closer I'd def. be taking you out for drinks tonight!

  • This is ridiculous. They need to roll out. If they are still their when you get home. I would kindly walk in and pack up their crap for them and place it on the other side of the door. Then let them know that they can follow their stuff and that you will kindly show them how to close AND lock the door, with them out side of it. Thats way beyond inconsiderate. They might not be worried about their safety. But they should not be putting yours in jeopardy. Thats crazy !!

  • If they are not out by the time you get home, I would throw their crap out on the front lawn.  They are obviously going to continue to take advantage of you as long as you let them.
  • Oh, no ma'am! There have been nights during my college years when I'd come back and everything was spinning and I'd still manage to close and lock my door. If they aren't out by the time you get back, you are allowed to toss their sh*t on the front lawn and blast that "Move, Biitch" song from Ludacris as they exit.

HAHAHHAAHA I totally agree with lca! I'm soooo sorry you're still having to deal with this, and PP are all right, they need to be OUT! Leaving your front door wide open?!? OMG, I'd be reaming them out so bad! It's like you suddenly have a rebellious teenager/young adult. YUCK! Good luck and ::::vibes:::: to not go crazy and strangle her!!! :-D

  • How disrespectful and inconsiderate can you be? Leaving the front door wide open? Who does that in this day and age?

I would set a date and tell them if not you are putting their stuff on the porch and then change all of the locks on your house (assuming they have keys). I could not put up with that for as long as you have.

  • "Move b!tch get out the way, get out the way!!"

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that, WOW there aren't even words for how rude they're being.  It's time to put the smack down, tell them they crossed the line leaving your house wide open, that is SO dangerous, even if you do live in a safe neighborhood.  Ridiculous.  Not acceptable.  Want me to kick her a$$?

    This x10000000%

Seriously. The least they could muster is respecting your house rules and the request you made in regards to the front door.

I would tell them, as graciously as possible, that their stay is over this evening. They should be gone when you get home and if they're not, you'll be removing them from the property, along with their belongings.

This couple sounds like the sort who will leech as much as they can before moving on. :/

    Sorry you're dealing with this.

  • Hm... one other thing I've been thinking.... where is your husband in all this?!? YOU keep telling him things, but seriously, is he actually upset by any of this too?? I wanna see HIM put his big-boy pants on and kick his friend out! Cuz his friend's wife is being soooo disrespectful to both of you! :( Just my observations and opinions, though. Good luck hun!
  • I will come kick their asses, srsly. And then I'll kick your H's as$ b/c Z is so, so right. WTF is up with him?! It's HIS friend.

This is a ridONKulous situation that YOUR H has put you in, and he needs to fix it immediately. (and as I type this I realize that my H would do the same thing your H is doing, but I wouldn't have any qualms about kicking his friends out of my house, and he knows it, and I'm 99.9% sure that all of his friends know it LOL) I would be ice-pick-stabbing mad at this point, but if it were me they would have been gone last week, for sure. Don't put up with this shiit!

  • Wow...I hope they are out of the house when you come home from work.

I know how hard it is when it is your husband's friend who is staying with you.  I keep telling my DH (and D does not stand for darling in this instance) that his best friend has to go...and he does not tell him.  I know I hate to create problems and get in the way of the friendship - or that is how I feel.  I am sending you positive vibes that you and your husband can get your house back soon!

  • Wow, I hope this situation gets taken care of soon for you and your husband. Who the eff leaves the door wide open in the middle of the night and it doesn't matter if you're drunk off your a!!. Vibes that they show themselves the door.

The bolding is mine, but Britt hit it right on the head. Toss their ish out and change the locks. This is a friendship that can't be saved (hi, loud monkey sex! leaving your front door open!!!!).

My guess is that she left the door wide open on purpose, passive-aggressively.  Like a teenager who wants to show her parents she's not under their thumb after being given a lecture.  I'm with everyone else, toss their crap out on the front lawn and kick them out!
