I just don't know what to do or think

Ok, I haven't said anything until now........

About two weeks ago, I lost a pregnancy.  I was 5 weeks at the time with my last cycle on 6/2.  Since I was so early, it was hard to see on internal and external ultrasounds what was going on.  My HGC level dropped by 1/2 within two days and I passed what we think was a blood clot in description to my OB.  I have never gone though this before......

Since I my levels were not at 0 yet, my doc wants me to continue to get my blood tested.  So, I went this last Thursday to the same lab and got it tested.  Doc office called me today and my level is.......

20,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WTF!!!!!  I have so not been acting like I am pregnant.  I have had alcohol (granted, not a lot but some) and at least 2 cups of coffee a day.......

I have to go back in tomorrow and get my blood tested again.  The nurse told me not to get my hopes up and this could be some testing abnormality but still.  Why would it be 3000 at ER when cramping and bleeding (which is normal level for a 4-6 week pregnancy) and then drop to 1600 two days later and then jump to 20,000 one week later????!!!!!  aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh

Re: I just don't know what to do or think

  • I totally feel you. I had a similar issue with my m/c in February. My levels were steadily rising, just like they were supposed to and then they found the suspected blighted ovum at 9.5 weeks. They continued to check my levels, which dropped, then rose again. And I finally m/c at 11 weeks. And then had to have my levels checked twice a week for another three weeks (which completely sucked!) And sometimes they would go down and then up a littl during that time, too. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. ((((HUGS))))
  • I am sorry you are going through this....I had the same thing happen with me when I experienced a blighted ovum. It is where the sac appears, but an embryo never grows, your body thinks its pregnant, but its really not, I ended up having a D&C. Good luck with whatever happens, and I am sorry you are going through this....the waiting is the worst part about the entire thing!
  • Oh, I am sorry you're going through this.  Has your doctor done an u/s?

Edit-- Ok, sorry I just saw in your OP where you did have an u/s.  I guess maybe they could see more now with one.  The level #s seem so confusing.  Sorry again.
