I touched on this in my blog last night, but over the weekend I bit the bullet and finally stepped on a scale for the first time since last May. The number was basically what I had assumed, but it still threw me for a loop to SEE it.
I'm 13 lbs up from last May. Which probably isn't *terrible* and is just around the average gain for that first married year, but I'm not happy. I subconsciously don't feel like going out in public much anymore because of it.
I'm in the process of trying to change a few things lifestyle-wise. We're trying to do a lot more meal planning and not relying on fish sticks and tater tots. And my new office is literally next door to my gym, so I think I'll *have* to go back because I'd feel so guilty NOT going.
Anyone care to share about their current body things? :-/
Re: Poundage
Were you working hard to lose prior to the wedding or is that a gain from your normal body weight?
For me, I'm currently up 8 pounds from the week of my wedding (it was as high as 15 at one point) but I also lost 6 pounds in the 3 weeks before my wedding so the number really isnt that different. However, I have replaced muscle with fat so even though the scale isnt that different, my clothes fit differently which does bother me. Not a lot I'm going to do about it at this point.
I did notice a big difference when I cut out (95%) of the diet coke and all high fructose corn syrup from my diet (around April/May) plus I generally eat a little healthier in the summer (more grilling/salads/etc rather than pasta, etc) and I'm generally more active (more dog walking and general running around - although my gym usage is still non-existant) and that has led to the loss of 7 pounds in the last 3 months.

hawki, brief rundown of my history:
2006 - highest weight
2007/2008 - started calorie counting and food journaling. Lost 35 pounds.
2009 - did a modified low-carb two months before the wedding - dropped another couple pounds.
2009-2010 - gained 13.
So, while the wedding and dress were motivating factors in '09, I was fresh off a big loss the year before. I expected this would happen, but I'm just hoping that I can at least drop 10 of it by 2011.

My 101
Yes, I feel fat right now.
I am about 11 pounds up from my wedding weight, and 6-8 pounds up from my "normal" weight. I have been way too busy to go to the gym, so I feel like it is all fat and my clothes are not fitting right.
Gotcha... I understand the feeling completely - it takes me about 5 minutes to gain weight I feel like.
So what's your game plan?

Eat less junk.
Add in more lean protein, fruits, veggies. I'm not doing anything too drastic. It will be that plus trying to log cals again. Eventual trip back to the gym for some cardio and weights.
Losing ten doesn't seem THAT scary, so if I take it slow, I hope it will work.
I feel like I gained all 13 the week after the wedding and just maintained it. haha. What the hell.

I feel you, mamie. I'm up from my normal weight. Not much (about 8lbs), and for obvious reasons, but I still feel BLAH like a BLOB. And I literally have zero time to exercise right now. I would have to chose between spending time with Jake, and exercise, and sorry, but baby ALWAYS wins. Especially since I'm away from him all day. Even though I'm only up 8lbs, I'm incredibly flabby feeling. I need to tone up from being stretched out for nine months.
We also have a gym here at work, but I don't have the ability to take a lunch break to work out while I'm here at work because I take three 30 minute breaks to pump every day. So realistically, until I'm done nursing, a decent exercise routine isn't in the cards.
I do small exercises sometimes that usually involve Jake lol. Like a chest press! :-P

CHARTS
I'm up about 10 pounds from the wedding. I exercised a lot back then, and was probably at a personal best fitness-wise (not really in terms of looks, but in terms of strength and endurance), but my diet wasn't great. I did the occasional mindless snacking due to wedding planning stress, but the muscle I had then and the calories I was burning still kept me in decent shape.
On the honeymoon I went all out, and never really reigned myself in after that. I put on 15 pounds during the first 6 months of marriage, pretty much stopped exercising completely. I felt gross, and after Christmas started toned down my bad eating. Some of the weight has since come off, but I've just been too busy/lazy to get back into good exercise habits.
But I'm not loving the love handles I have right now, so something must be done!
I think I did this too... it was a ridiculous summer last year and that just blended into tailgating and holidays and it never ended. At least until my reality check when I had to put on my BM dress for my sister's wedding and it didnt fit.
Good luck with it - its hard to make the initial change but if you are like me, you'll feel a lot better after a couple weeks of eating better and have more energy so that will be more motivation to continue.

mamie- I was going to post a similar topic. More like help motivate me please! I gained 48 pounds during my pregnancy : ( & my pre-pregnancy weight was +6 from wedding day. As of this morning I have 19 more pounds to lose to get to pre-pregnancy weight. None of my clothes fit except for a few shirts because my body is so different from before. I went & bought a couple pairs of pants/shirts so I could wear something besides maternity clothes. Ugh! You would think this would motivate me to exercise more often, but not yet.
Would anyone like to do an accountability check-in? We could do food and or exercise. Maybe being accountable to my fellow J 09'ers would help me/us?
This! Even though the numbers on the scale showed I was below pre-pg weight, the shape is completely different. And I don't want to buy a ton of new clothes because I want to lose weight and will hopefully have to rebuy soon.
I'm actually down 1 pound since the wedding last year. I lost a few pounds before the wedding, and then gained it back. At the beginning of the year I decided I'm really going to make better decisions and I'm down 5lbs since January. I know I'm not trying as hard as I could, but cutting out soda and sugary drinks and packing my lunch for work instead of going out helped so far.
I still have about 12lbs to go to my ideal weight. In HS I was always super tiny, and I've gained about 30 lbs in the last 8 years since then. Sometimes it's hard to step on the scale and realize that I gained so much, but I know that I can't stay 18 and 110 pounds forever.
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

Check the ticker.
I'm up about 20 pounds from wedding weight. Wedding weight was still 50 pounds above where I wanted to be. Hence why I rejoined WW yesterday.
I think this is a great idea. I gained 53 lbs during pg, which doesn't include the 10-lb gain after the wedding. I've lost 30, but still have a total of 33 pounds left to lose. I put a hold on the 30day shred DVD at the library so I just need to pick it up and start! None of my clothes fit, and I hate staring at my cute summer dresses that I probably won't be able to wear until next summer.
oops...double post.
Ooo! PIP the new shoes please!
