Boo! :(

I got my first ever ticket this morning.  I was going to pick up DH's birthday cupcakes from a girl in my bible study.  She lives off of Glenwood where all the construction is and I got lost because I couldn't turn on her road.  I called and she told me to cut through the BP parking lot, and even though it said no thru traffic it was the only way to get to her house.  Of course there was a cop sitting right there.  I was so nice and told him I was lost and that she said that was the only way to get there.  He was not nice at all...and of course gave me a ticket..he said it's just court costs but it's $126.  Money is so tight right now that I just cried for like 30 minutes....the girl who told me to turn there wrote me a check for it, but I'm not going to use her money :(  I'm hoping this kind of thing doesn't get reported to insurance....does anyone know?

I have a friend who's DH is a Raleigh cop, but he doesn't know me that well and I doubt he would do anything about it anyway.

  • Do I get points on my license for that?  He said it wasn't a fine...just court costs.

That stinks!  Sorry to hear that...and sorry I don't have any answers for you!
  • Was this the turn at Fairview?  I made that same turn last week and didn't even notice any no thru traffic signs.  I'm so sorry you got caught, that is so silly.  And those neighborhoods back there are so meandering, it's so easy to get lost.  I can't believe that cop didn't let you off the hook.  I mean come on, it's not your fault the roads are so screwed up right there.
  • If I were you I'd go to court and try and contest it. I still think you have to pay the court costs but you can possibly get the ticket itself waived. Sorry that happened to you, that cop sucks!
  • Sorry you got a ticket!  I think it'll depend on what exactly your ticketed violation is as to whether it will show up on your driving record that your insurance company sees.  And if its a moving violation for which they can charge.

Feel free to PM or email me if you want.  I should be able to look up the violation code at work to see if the company I work for would charge.
