Twilight?

I have to say, I was a huge pesimist about Twilight and the whole phenom. I thought it was really lame. Vampires in love with humans? REALLY?

So I went on vacation and my co worker gave me the first book and made me promise to read it. Well, I have to say, I read it in a day and I'm OBSESSED now. I watched the movie last night and already started the 2nd book! I was late to work this morning because I couldn't put the book down and almost brough it in to work with me!

I need an intervention!!!!

Re: Twilight?

  • It's soooo good! I read all four books in like 4 days (I was on vacation... so it was easy!). I was so against it first too, and I do think the books are better than the movies! If you need the last two books, I have them! =)

You kind of forget about the vampire and werewolf thing because the romance is so overwhelming. It's forbidden love and I think that's what makes it so addicting! =)

  • I had no interest in the books or the movies what so ever. One day DH had the first book and I made fun of him for it. He had me watch the first movie, and while at first I thought it was kinda lame it sparked my interest just enough to make me sit down with the book.

I loved the series. I don't find the movies as good, but I still like to see them.

  • I actually really enjoyed the books. I am reading The Host now, which requires a little more imagination, but is a little more sci-fi than Twilight.

I hate the Twilight movies. I cannot wrap my head around why they are so popular. They are poorly cast and not well made, IMO.

  • Loved the books, hate the movies, and hate the hype that the movies have produced.  I also hate that now, if I try to re-read the books, all I can picture in my head are the actors from the movies.  It makes me stabby and not want to read the books.
  • The movies are okay in my opinion. Nothing great. But I can tell you that the hype does ruin them. I can't stand when something is made up to be go big and great. The books are definitely so much better.

And I agree... I tried to reread the books when I was on vacation this year and all I could picture is the actors, which is disappointed. Especially because "movie edward" isn't very handsome!

  • I agree with you guys on the movie. I find Kristen Stewart really obnoxious and she can't act for crap. I also think Rob Pattinson is not cute at all and he always looks like he needs a shower! I watched Twilight last night and I did like it though, only because I like the story!

Can't wait to finish New Moon hopefully by tomorrow. Is it wrong if I call out sick tomorrow to read it!

  • So when the last movies come out, are the commercials going to say, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I."? Because that's just a mouthful.

  • I read the books because of all the book hype, pre-movie.  All I could think while reading them was, "Well if this is all it takes to become a best-selling author, I could be one!"  Really, her writing is atrocious and so over-the-top.  I think if I'd known in advance it was a Young Adult book I might have been less harsh, but probably not.  I did get sucked into the storyline by the last book because I had to find out how it ended.

I have no desire to see the movies though, mostly because Robert Pattinson is not how I pictured Edward.  Ew.

  • I haven't read the books, my younger sisters love them though.  I'd heard (like Rock said) that they were over-written and that's one of my book pet peeves.

We just watched the first movie the other night and while I didn't hate it, I didn't really like it either.  I felt like nothing happened for almost the entire movie.  Its just Edward and Bella staring at each other and being all angsty.  Does this last sentence make me sound old? Hahaha!

You totally nailed it, "angsty" is pretty much what the whole first book is about!

  • I really enjoyed the books for the entertainment value. Are they amazing writing? Heck no. But they are fun stories that grab you.

The movies - well the first one was horrible. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. New Moon was MUCH better. And as far as a book adaptation, I thought it was great. So many books are severely altered when being changed to movie, and I thought NM was done well in that respect.

We're going to see Eclipse tonight so I'll let you know what I think of that after, but I've heard good things :-)
