hair dryer recs needed

Anyone have a great hair dryer they want to recommend?  Mine is sputtering out its last breaths.  I've had it for over 10 years and probably paid $20 for it at CVS, so I guess it was about time.

I'd like something with a "warm" air setting if possible.  Hot is too hot for me and cool is too cold.  Otherwise, I'm open to anything.

Thanks!

Re: hair dryer recs needed

  • I have a Conair. I forget if the model I have has a warm setting or not. The hot on this one is similar to the warm on my last Conair model. My hair is on the thin side, so I didn't need anything fancy. Conairs are pretty inexpensive and my last model lasted at least 8 years. And it actually still works, but the sliding switch to move from low to high speed broke so it only did low.

  • While on a trip to CA I used a friend's Elchim hair dryer and thought it dried my hair much better than my Conair back home.  My hair seemed to come out less frizzy.  So I asked for one as a gift from my family for my next birthday :)  It's about $70, so it's a bit of a splurge but I really like it.  The only downside is that the rocker buttons are placed where you can easily knock them with your hand, which is kind of annoying.  Sliding buttons would have made a lot more sense.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Hot Tools has pretty great products. They're more of a splurge as well but I swear by their curling irons. I don't have the hairdryer though but I imagine its' good.
  • I have the Chi. It has lasted for forever. I read good reviews on the T3 but my hair dresser has both and prefers the Chi.

  • I have a purple Conair hairdryer - I forget the model but I've had it for about 7 years now and have used it maybe once in the last year.  I also suggest the Chi - I find myself using that more often than not.
  • P.S. I predominately shower at night and let me hair air dry. So I don't use my hair dryer every day which is probably why the first one lasted sooo long, lol.

  • Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I usually dry my hair about half way in the morning because I am too lazy and/or rushed to dry it fully.  So something that would be faster would be great.

Is the Chi available in brick and mortar stores?  I'm intrigued and would like to take a look in person.

  • You should be able to get a Chi at Sally's or someplace like that. I got mine as a Christmas present so I don't know where it came from :)
