How old was Jake when you took him to Mexico?  Did your peditrician have any issues with it?  Did you have to do anything special as far as vaccinations or anything?  Did you have to get a passport for him?

We are going to be going to Jamaica for a destination wedding when our LO will be about 3 months old and I'm just curious.

Re: **MrsO**

  • Hi Dear!! :)

Jake was three months old when we took him to Mexico. The pedi had absolutely no issue with it at all. He just wanted to make sure he had his first set of shots, no special vaccinations needed. He just told me to slather him in sunblock --not sunscreen!-- and use SPF clothing (hat, top, and shorts). He also told me to pay attention to his body temperature. Even though that pool may feel warm to us, he could quickly begin to get cold. But he told me that age is the easiest to travel at because they sleep so much and go with the flow... and it is so true. He was an awesome traveler. I'd do it again in a second!

Yes, we had to get a passport for him. It's funny because he's like four weeks old in his picture and already looks so different! Get the passport as soon as you can (after baby is born because they require an "open-eyed" picture and after you get the SSN) because there is no way to tell how long it will take.

Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

  • Thanks for the help... that's pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking - I'm a little nervous about doing it but hopefully it will all work out ok because there is no way in helll I'm leaving the baby with my ILs and my entire family will be in Jamaica as well and I really don't want to miss the wedding.
  • LO will totally be fine. :) Might as well start travelling early! That's what I say! :)

  • Jumping in--I am so jealous!  My exciting, destination wedding (Australia!) got moved from November to December, when I will be too big to travel.  Sad face.

Awww that sucks... I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on some festivities for my bff's wedding next spring too - b-party in Vegas and a shower in MD because they will likely be held in Feb/Mar.  I'm just glad the weddings don't start until May.  Should be plenty of motivation to lose the baby weight - a BM dress and a bathing suit after 3 months.
