How often do you do your grocery shopping

And what do you spend?

Just wondering.  Because for 2 1/2 people, we sure spend an assload. :(

Re: How often do you do your grocery shopping

  • I'd say we go shopping every 2-3 weeks and it generally costs between $150-$250...we've been kind of thrown off lately with the baby.. too busy to eat or shop :) I find that we've been doing little shops for neccessities here and there.. you know the kind where you're just stopping in for one or 2 things and u end up spending $80

  • I was going and doing 1 big food shooping every two weeks or so and spending about 250 each time. Lately i switched o all organic meat and veggies, and eggs, and mil and doing weekly and it has been about 130 a week.

I can't even tell you the last time i went because we have been eating or stopping here or there and getting little things. I am also having a hard time eating meat at this point so  it is hard to budget. I am amazed at people who spend 200 a month

This are you kidding me!? I've tried clipping coupons but they just don't seem to work for me.

  • For two people (now plus two kittens) we generally spending anywhere from $50-100 every week.  It really depends on how much we get and how we use it during the week.  Like last week we had a $10 off coupon so our bill ended up being $40, but the previous week and this past week was closer to $100.  I try my best to use coupons and check the circulars, but it doesn't always pay off.  Sometimes it's great like when the grocery store does BOGO Free for Perdue chicken breasts, the bread we like, etc and other times it's for something I don't need/use.
  • We go shopping every 2 weeks and spend about $130.  That is for 3 meals a day 7 days a week.  I think that is pretty good.
  • Oh yeah I must add that we spend a lot of nights being invited over our parents houses for dinner ;) hence why we're able to keep the grocery bills to a minimum
  • Once a week shopping for food - about $80 to $100. That's B-L-D - I clip coupons, too. But some items like organic stuff and produce that I usually buy...there are no coupons for that.

Big item shopping for meats, cheeses and alcohol like wine/beer - it adds up...so maybe $100 every 2 to 3 weeks.

So maybe $600 is what we spend on food a month...and that's not counting all the times we go out to dinner if we do. We eat too much huh?

  • I'd say about once a month we do a huge shopping trip. Then a few small trips in between for perishables. I'd estimate (on the high end) we spend $175/mo for us 2.
  • I go about 2 to 3 times a week b/c I tend to forget things!  I spend about 100.00

I'm really bad- I go when we run out of food and our fridge has more beer than anything else. (I do always have some staples, such as eggs and bread, but I don't always have milk depending on when I last went to the store).  I usually spend between $100 and $150 when I go (but that includes things like soap, deoderant, toilet paper, whatever is needed).  I go probably once every 2 weeks or so.  Pretty sad...

    We eat out too much.

  • I go every week and probably spend about $50-75. However, I don't really buy anything to make our dinners with, as I make all of our dinners at one of those places where you make a bunch of freezer meals at once. I do that about every other month and that costs $150.
