I saw that one. It was awful.
This has one guy with 30 cats ...and his wife can't live with him anymore. You should see his place.
There is another woman who hoards dogs...I find this particularly disturbing because not only does she hoard the dogs she won't let them outside. So they are living in their own feces and urine.
Animal Planet. I don't want to be watching it but now I need to know what happens...I mean they can't do this show and not call the humane society right? I need to know that these animals get to a safe place.
These people are just so sick, it's sad. You'd think she smell of animal urine and sh!t would bother them but it just doesn't.
And USHS has to be called, whether or not the people want them to be called. DPH is often called into these cases. If they won't surrender animals, the ACO can get a court order. The entire thing is sad- when you have 10-plus unaltered cats living in one place, they are going to make babies like it is their full time job then it gets so out of hand. And none of the are vaccinated, so they are often so sick they have to be put down upon seizure anyway BUT not always.
Hopefully the ACO and DPH call in social workers to get help for the hoarders. I am not a fan of these kinds of shows due to the exploitation of these people, but I understand it makes for good TV, as I would watch them now and then myself.
I would think so too, but then they have those shows about addiction where they have them shooting up and smoking crack on TV. I wonder how they are able to document this and delay going to the authorities, whether it be animal hoarding and the humane society or illegal drugs and the police.
On the show last night the guy with the cats called animal control on himself. He said he had put it off before because he was afraid to go to jail. It was awful to watch. They said a lot of the cats were sick and had respiratory issues. They found dead cats as well. It was so sad.
The lady with the dogs had a vet come in and tell her she could not live like this. Her granddaughter installed a dog door, and put new carpet in. The woman swore she would not get another dog, but at the very end they said she got one more! Ehh...it turns my stomach.
That is the thing- you can take dogs away, but you can't prevent them from getting more. They need psychological help!
I get overwhelmed with 3 dogs, I don't know how people have 4, 5, 6, 10, 20. 45 dogs.
