Took the idea from another board, but what are some things that annoy the crap out of you, despite the fact that they're largely irrational....
Re: Irrational annoyances
I get ridiculously annoyed when I'm on the phone and DH is near me eating. I swear that he chews louder when I'm on the phone (even though I know he actually doesn't).
I get annoyed when people are super picky at the meat store. "Hmm... let me see the one that's under that one in the back. Ok, not that one, how about the one to the right of it. Oh, that's too fatty... how about the...." STFU and take a piece of meat already!!!!!!
I'm pregnant and miserable so pretty much EVERYTHING is an irrational annoyance to me right now, lol.
Like last night at work, I was in the kitchen and trying to shut down my station and after being slow all night people kept ringing back reubens and salads that I had to make and I was just soooooo annoyed by it. Then my coworker asked if he could smoke before I left and I told him no. I really had to pee, haha.
Which brings up - smoking. I hate it and it annoys the crap out of me. I hate when people come inside smelling like smoke and I hate working in a place where most of the people smoke because they always get to go outside and take a five minute break to smoke while I have to cover for them. Ugh.
These are fairly person specific but here are a couple
Chase tends to walk from room to room when he is on the phone, that really bugs me.
The one guy I work with doesn't seem to know how to finish words, when he sends a form to another dept or branch he types "I have scan over". He also never uses punctuation or capital letters when sending emails to just our branch.
I am sure there are more but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.
When I go to the Y and someone is on MY elliptical or bike. There is one elliptical I always use because the gym is upstairs and it's so flippin hot up there and this machine is right under where the AC blows out. MY bike is the one I always use because the other one has a screw loose and it moves slightly when you pedal. Irrational? Yes, completely. I know this, but it still doesn't stop me from being annoyed.
I also get irrationally annoyed at the skinny b!tches that go 90 minutes on the eliptical at the highest level. Why? I am jealous, and it's absurd.
Anything that I consider loud. Like today, a kid was crying in the store loudly and I got so annoyed I just left. When we went to Mon Ami and the kid beside us was SCREAMING at random because she must have thought it was cute or something. Loud breathing, eating and talking drives me up a wall too.
There are others, but I think that I hit the biggest ones!
being asked "do you work here?" when i'm at kohl's. (we wear kohl's lanyards with our name tags attached to it) i so want to answer "nope, i just wear a name tag for the hell of it while i'm shopping!" sheesh.....
it's not really an irrational annoyance, but people who talk on the phone while they waiting in line to check out at a store and keep on talking while checking out.
whining, screaming kids and parents who don't seem to care that their kids are annoying everyone around them.
i know that there is a lot more, but i can't think of any.
Bahahaha, I totally do this... lol!
I do this too, and even more annoyed if they're in my lane. I think "Really? You couldn't get in the other lane after you pull out in front of me??"
and s/o carts, I hate the giant car shaped ones. I know they're for the kids, but seriously, they are mammoths and take up the whole aisle.
When I tell DH a piece of information, and he proceeds to ask me 8 questions about it. Then I tell him, that's all I know, and that's what I told you, stop asking me questions.
I get annoyed when random people park in the street in front of our house. I don't know why, it just bugs me.
YES!
This reminded me! I get annoyed when someone parks in "my" parking spot at work! lol!
Really? I'm becoming one of those people who waits. The traffic lights by my house (specific Monroe/Central and Douglas/475) have taught me to wait. I've seen several accidents and near misses because people just blast through those red lights...long after they've changed.
I'm just annoyed in general with people parking on our street...especially anywhere near our house!
This is me!
I can't stand....
*passing people on the freeway on their cellphones with the window down...what kind of conversation are you having going 70mph with the wind blowing?
*commuting...mine is like 15 min, and it drives me batty!
*trying to make a comment/update of FB and it still contains grammar/spelling errors...I blame it on Alex
*first-timers at a fast food restaurant...how in the heck do you not know what the menu is at those places? I probably shouldn't but I even know what their pop selection is
*people who still use plastic bags at the grocery store...seriously, you get SO much more in the cloth ones plus you save the environment. Most stores give you a kick back so they pay for themselves after like 10 trips.
People who drive slow in the left lane on the highway and do not get over so you can get around them.
Also people who are driving CRAZY fast and fly around my in the right lane without even giving me a chance to get over and let them around. I am generally not THAT slow of a driver, I go about 73 on the highway... I understand that some people do drive faster than me and I will get over for them, but I don't have ESP, I don't know they are coming.
1. The little noises people make with their mouths before they start to talk. Sometimes it's like a smacking sound, others it's just a really loud breath. Either way, it's completely irritating for me.
2. Rubbing hands together.
