So it really hit me how much weight I've gained since the wedding. I tried on a cute top that I wore in Vegas 2 weeks before the wedding. Can't even zip it up anymore! No way, no how. I knew I had gained some weight but that was a real eye opener!! So this week I've finally got my eating back on track. I've been exercising 3 days a week for almost 2 months now, but since I wasn't eating any better I still wasn't really losing weight (I actually gained more!) At one point I was up to 159, which is TERRIBLE for me.
My goal is 140. I've gotten back down to 155 as of today (huzzah!) so now I'm allowing myself to go shopping to buy some accessories, things that I don't have to worry about not fitting once I get back to my normal weight. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, hair thingies, all that fun stuff.
Once I hit 150 I can buy some new shoes! I need em... BAD. I only have 1 pair that I wear, which is a pair of cheapo flats from target. The color is already rubbing off of the fake leather, and I've only had them since after the wedding!
When I hit 145 I get a hair cut at a nice salon. I don't usually like having long hair, the longer it gets the more I just wear it up. It's already longer than I like, so I'm hoping that will help motivate me to stay on track (plus I got the idea from H, he said he won't trim his beard until he reaches a goal weight lol)
Then once I get to 140 I get new jeans and tops! The only exception to my rule is if there is an AMAZING sale, once I"m down into the 140's haha. Then I can get a few tops.
Does anyone else do these types of rewards?
Re: My reward system for losing weight
I use to reward my good work outs with tastykakes... thaaaaat didn't work out so well!
Your plan seems to be much better thought out!
I lost about 5 pounds on the honeymoon because Adam was sick so we weren't spending much time at the restaurants. I quickly gained it back once we got home though. I'm at 138 right now (and I'm 5'7ish). I'd like to at least get down to 130. I've been feeling like a cow lately, but I've been too lazy to do anything about it. It's not so much the weight that bothers me, but it's the fact that I need to firm up in some places. Maybe I should try out this reward system!
I have absolutely no idea how much I weigh as we don't own a scale, and I never think to get on them whenever I'm near one. I am fairly certain that I am roughly 130, which is too high for my liking - I'm not even 5'4! The most I've ever weighed was 140, which was a few years ago when I was working at a daycare and eating all the food they fed the kiddies, PLUS my own food (aka two breakfasts, two lunches, plus snacks, etc. And they feed toddlers homo milk, which is roughly 1000 calories, haha). That was NOT a happy time in my life, nothing I owned fit me! Thankfully I lost about 8 lbs within about a month of leaving that job
When I first met HH I was probably about 115, which is a pretty healthy weight for my body type. That was back when I was working out really regularly (I was still cheerleading back then, so was at the gym 5-7 days a week). I have always eaten like a man, and lord knows I like to have a few drinks, so when I'm not working out at all I tend to hover in the 128-132 range. And I haven't worked out in like a year, lol. I did NOT hit the gym before the wedding, which probably makes me the only bride on the face of the planet who didn't.
I think I need a shopping motivator too, that sounds like a great plan!
Can I ask how much you weighed on your wedding day?
You look skinny in your sig pic.
What in the world is HOMO MILK????
Stupid genetics.... damn my mom for having flappy arms!!
Stu, I am dying - I literally was like "WTH? She doesn't know what homo milk is?" So of course I went to trusty google to figure this out...sure enough, it's a Canadian thing. Homo milk is what you Americans call Whole Milk...but what we call whole milk is something different. Homo milk is homogenized, but here we don't say homogenized, we say homo...I am including a picture of a milk carton to demonstrate.
I can't see the picture at work, but I'll check at home. I'm pretty sure that if I googled "homo milk" I'd get some pretty disgusting pictures!!!! I'm still giggling about it though....
Was this directed at me? If not, ignore me
Like I said, I don't own a scale, and I haven't been to the gym in a looooong time, so I'm going to guess in the range of about 127-130?? I could be wrong, but my weight hasn't seemed to change in a while, judging by the fit of my clothes.
It was directed at OP. But I don't mind hearing from others as well
I'll admit, I didn't hit the gym before my wedding either, and I am pretty sure I put on a few pounds before the big day.
Ok, now I'm embarrassed and feel like a big loser, haha. Hayley, sorry to hijack your post!! I just assumed it was directed at me because it was immediately following my post. I have to be less self-centered
Dude, stu, you're killing me tonight!! LMAO
And is that a BAG of milk??
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Yes...is that unusual to you? We only ever had bags of milk when I was growing up, but I usually buy cartons now because I don't drink milk, and HH only uses it for cereal, so it lasts a while, and cartons just have a longer life then bags.
Okay...
Hayley, that is a fantastic reward system. It's brilliant. I was one of those girls who used to reward my weight loss with brownie earthquakes from DQ... yeah. Don't do that.
I try to maintain my weight now because I really hate losing it. I have to cut down to about 1200 calories a day and police like mad because I am so small, and that's no fun. I'm not quite 5'3", and I'm probably weighing in at about 111, 112 in my nightie in the morning. Before the wedding, I was clocking in around 109. Some of my jeans are getting tight, but I think it's partially because Matt puts them through the dryer and I don't.
Stu, I really like the arm workouts on these DVDs. They make my lil' arms all buff (when I do them):

Aaaaand... how have you guys never heard of milk in a bag? Allow Five Iron Frenzy to educate you about our beloved northern neighbor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QgSuVJ7Jpg
LOL Kelly thanks!!! That was good! This one is a personal fave of mine, because he's from where I'm from (and he's getting pretty big here up North, he's reallllly good)

I hope this works, I'm not sure how to make it clicky.
Wow this thread has made me think of so many questions---
1) Did you ask your H if he messed with your scale Hayley? Mine ruined the calibration on ours after the wedding, and I started panicking that I had gained 7 pounds, but hadn't really....
2) Are Five Iron Frenzy still a band? I thought they broke up?
3) How many Canadians do we have in this group?
4) Of those Canadians who drinks homo milk? I think its nasty!
5) I think you look fine in your siggy pic too Hayley. My H is going to be photoshopping our wedding photos because the seamstresses took my dress in too much, and I weigh 130 on 5'6......
Yeah, I think they did. I saw them on their farewell tour when I was in college (my then-BF was a huge fan). I didn't really follow them, but I always liked the Canada song.
