So I'm sure I'm the last one in the world to read Eat Pray Love, but now that the movie is coming out soon I figured I should read the book first - I have always wanted to.

So I decided to go to the library and check it out, but ended up on the waiting list...no surprise. What I was surprised about is that I was number 136 on the list...136!!!! Crying

Seriously?? Looks like I'm going to have to buy it now. Has anyone had this luck before? Ack!

That book was fantastic and I'm very excited for the movie! If you are a Borders member (free) they give out coupons ranging from 25% to 40% off every week. Another option is to ask around if your friends have the book so you can borrow it from them. It's so popular that I'm sure someone you know has it! Good luck!

Not sure why I didn't think of that I will start checking around and sign up at Borders and hopefully get a great discount so I can just buy it.

Loved the book, can't wait to see the movie!! It's always so exciting when they turn a great book into film, even though the movie is never as good....I was surprised they cast Julia Roberts for that part too. She's great, I just pictured....someone else, younger maybe?

I have definitely had this happen before. Do you know how many copies your library has? When I put a book on hold, it applies to all of the books in the city (not just my branch). With a popular book like this one, if they have 100 copies, you might not have to wait that long before your turn comes up.

I have heard good things about the book, but haven't been able to read it yet as well. I'll keep it in mind also. I'm one who borrows from the library too, so I should go ahead and attempt to borrow it and place my name on the waitlist just in case it takes awhile.

I went yesterday to the library anyway and had her double check and she indicated it may be awhile. She didn't tell me how many they had, but did indicate they sometimes get some "unreserved copies" back and just put in on the shelves and they are first come first serve. I might just go buy it

I love that book and actually had two copies...my first I left on the airplane, so Santa brought be a new one. I think you might be able to find a decent used copy for a few bucks on Amazon.com.
