s/o Etiqutte fail

A lady I work with who is in her 40's, has two kids and was married previously went to Eureka Springs with her BF a few weeks ago and got married.

So, I get an invitation in the mail for a reception her parents are throwing for her, no biggie.  Right smack dab on the invitation "registered at Target"!  Which immediately I thought was so inappropriate, but I had to see what in the world two 40 something's with children still "need".  Well, obviously, a trampoline, Webkinz, patio furniture, a gas grill, a drill set...

Yea, I don't think DH and I are going to attend.  I'll mail them a card.

Re: s/o Etiqutte fail

  • I would have to say that hand tools, a grill and patio furniture did not make on registery because I did not feel like it was anyone place to buy the extra we want but don't exactly need. I would a card and maybe a giftcard is all I would send.

IMO it would acceptable if you had left those things on your registry because this is your first marriage and you are under the age of 40. You have to figure that at the age of 40 with 2 kids you have a home established. I think that's extremely tacky.

To me it is just tacky to expect/want people to buy you those things when you need things you will actually use. If I was 40 with kids and getting remarried I wouldn't even go register; I probably wouldn't even expect more than a card with nothing in it. But like I said that is just me.
