Has anyone gotten pregnant using a diaphragm?
This is our method of birth control now. Just wondering if anyone has had it fail?
Re: Has anyone gotten pregnant using a diaphragm?
My mother. My sister is the result. There will always be a rate of failure for birth control methods.
Failure rate with the diaphragm looks to be about 16%

I used one for 20 years with no unplanned pregnancies.
You have to be religious about following the directions to a T. Slack any on the process and you could wind up pregnant.
Planned Parenthood's website has comprehensive information on all forms of birth control.

If you are worried about it, you could combine natural family planning elements with the diaphragm...using condoms during the time when you are ovulating.
This is what we do. I track with Cycle Beads, and during times I'm most likely to be fertile, we double up with both my diaphragm and a condom.
FWIW, I'm a diaphragm baby.
Not that my mother can be counted on as a responsible adult using birth control.
