If so, tell me all about it (cost, classes, etc)!
I live in Oakley and don't want to go too far which makes my choices somewhat limited.
Anyone go to LA Fitness?
Re: Do you belong to a gym?
Sort of...I belong to Jazzercise
. It is a combo of dance aerobics, kickboxing, pilates, and strength training (weights, tubes, etc.). Cost depends on individual franchise. Mine is $37/mth unlimited but I joined when there was a promo so my first year is $20/mth (which is pretty much the best promo they offer). The joining fee also varies and was $50 at my center. Check website for current promo b/c there's always one going.
DH used to go to 24 Hr Fitness or something but recently changed to Urban Active. He and his brother really like it there. I considered joining too but I don't think they have classes which is what I'm looking for in a place. They do, however, have sauna which they really enjoy. They signed up on a recent promo...$10/mth and only $10 (or $20? can't remember) sign up fee, no contract (pay mth to mth).

DH and I belong to the Cincinnati Sports Club on Red Bank. It's pricier than most, but it's SO NICE. The locker rooms look like they belong in a fancy spa or hotel. They provide towel service, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hairspray, deodorant, lotion, and hair dryers. They have an indoor pool, indoor track, raquetball, lots of equipment, and they offer a lot of classes - zumba, kickboxing, spin, yoga/pilates, etc. I do circuit training classes there that kick my butt. They also have basketball and soccer leagues (huge indoor soccer field.)
We pay $50 a month each. That's for a young professional (under 30) membership, indoor only - so we don't get access to the outdoor pool or tennis courts. I don't know what the rest of the memberships cost - I want to say maybe $120 a month for a couples membership (regardless of age). It's a splurge for us but it's SO worth it. That place totally motivates me to work out!
Since it's pricey, it does attract kind of a hoity-toity crowd. Lots of trophy wives.
But we've never had a problem with anyone and the employees are very helpful.
If you call them, they'll set you up with a time to tour the place and a free 1-week membership.
