fashion question...

im super excited about the promotion, except that it means i have to go back to wearing suits to work. ugh. last time i wore them didn't care if i wore black all the time. now, im feeling a bit more color is nice. so...

i got a brown dress... what color shoes do i wear?

and i have red heels that i wore at the wedding (which i love) and want to wear them again. but with what...?

im so lost when it comes to clothes, most of my wardrobe is black. help me get out of my rut! :)

Re: fashion question...

  • With a brown dress you could wear any color of shoes, brown is a neutral.  I am boring and usually wear nude pumps with my brown skirts but any color would match.

Were your wedding shoes satin?  I'm not sure if I would wear satin shoes to work.  To me satin shoes = formal outfit or dressing up.  Just doesn't seem like they would go with business attire. But I would definitely wear them on a date night with your hubby or to get drinks with the girls.

  • I agree if they are not satin, go for it ! And bring it together with a red bracelet, pocketbook or necklace. I love red !! Obviously :-)

Other than that , you can pretty much incorporate any color with brown. As long as you bring in at least one or two accessories, so that it all makes sense.

  • I agree with ladies above...brown goes with pretty much everything. Pinks, Reds, Blues, Purples, etc.

Agreed with your heels are satin, save them for a night out with your H or with the girls.

  • I pretty much live in black at work and add some personality with colorful shoes/accessories.  It's funny, I have a coworker who does the same thing and we decided it's because we're artists and we're always trying to be creative so when it comes to our clothes we don't have any energy left to be creative there!

Brown is neutral like black so you can wear anything with it.  I think the red would look great (I agree no satin, though).  Ugh I would die if I had to wear suits to work.  I love business casual!
