Anyone have any tips on self-executed up-dos? I have a wedding to go to next weekend, and the dress I got really doesn't lend itself to having my hair down. I do not want to go drop $75 at a salon just to have them create something I'll probably hate anyway.
I'm not totally incompetent when it comes to hair, but I'd love something that's not too complicated.
Here's the dress. Mod already helped me pick out some shoes that are way cute than what this chick is wearing. I suppose this gal has her hair down so it could work, I just think it would look more polished with hair up.

Re: Hair halp
Kristen, I was thinking along those lines, a side pony could work with the one arm bandit (which I normally hate but for whatever reason, this dress works on me).
Just not sure exactly what to do. Should the side pony be on the same side as the strap or opposite?
I think I may need to experiment this weekend.

opposite side imo

I'm not a side pony fan either. i say sleek low pony with your hair wrapped around the elastic and pinned in place. that way you don't have to deal with wind or humidity, either.
I say opposite side.

Can you do something like this (except the scary Mischa Barton face)
I'm a big fan of the low chignon, perhaps to the side if you want to sass it up.
I might try something like this, only a little toned down and without the scary makeup

Have you seen the Goody spin pins? They are supposed to help you create the perfect messy chignon. They don't work well on me since my hair is pin straight. If you hair has some texture, they would be good.
I think a low messy side bun would look good.
