Atlanta Girls

Any recommendations for a girls weekend in Atlanta?  My friend's birthday is August 7th and I'll be meeting up with her and a couple of her other friends for her birthday.

What are the good restaurants in the area?  I'm not sure where we're staying, so I'm sorry I can't narrow it down to a specific area.  But I'm going to guess closer to downtown is where we'll be.

What about activities?  My friend has done the Coke tour, so I'm not sure we'll be doing that and I also suggested the aquarium.

Re: Atlanta Girls

  • I think the Coke tour is really cool so you should try to get her to go again. Plus, you get to taste all kinds of cokes from all over. Just stay away from Europe, they're not good. South Africa was yum.

The aquarium was really cool. Its the biggest in the world.  There is also a 3(or 4) D movie. We didn't see that, but kinda wish we had.

As far as eating - we ate at Marietta Diner (it was on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives) and it was really good. And we stopped at Steak and Shake.

Lindsay, Kendra, and I ate at La Fonda Latina and it was SO good. There are a couple of them, but we ate at the one in mid-town (I think, I'm not really sure though).

We didn't make it, but I wanted to go to Underground Atlanta. It sounded really cool and I was really hoping to make it but we just ran out of time.

We didn't actually get to do a whole lot because it was SO freaking hot and being outside at baseball all day really didn't make us want to be outside any more than that. We wanted to check out Centennial Park, but yeah, too hot.

  • What's your/her style? Is it casual or cosmopolitan?  Are you guys the type to go out to a club and dance the night away or just have dinner, drinks and go home? Would you like something casual, medium or upscale? That will help me give some suggestions...
  • Sorry for the delayed response!  Carrie, thanks for your suggestions.

Kendra, I think we're somewhere between casual and cosmopolitan.  I think for her birthday she's looking to have a good time out and enjoy some of the nightlife Atlanta has to offer (so dinner and drinks followed by some dancing).  As far as level, I think medium would be a good place to start, but if you have some good upscale recs I wouldn't mind those either.  If you need me to clarify anything else, let me know!  I'm looking forward to you recommendations.
