Re: TGIF

  • Yay it's Friday!

It's our first weekend in about a month of having nothing to do, so we plan on cherishing it.

Tonight- no plans.  We're just planning on grilling some steaks for dinner and then maybe go grab some ice cream.

Tomorrow- we've decided that we're using one day this weekend to do an 'inside project'.  This weekend's project is laundry and something else I forget.  It should be quick.  Then we have a few errands to do that we've been putting off.  Our neighbors are working at his sister's new resturant Saturday night so DH was talking about going down there to check it out.

Sunday- food shopping and relaxing, maybe do some work outside.

Nothing exciting going on this weekend really but I'm so looking forward to not having to entertain anyone this weekend or have to travel somewhere!

  • Today:  meeting with BFF and her mom to finish planning her baby shower.  I'm excited about seeing my dad (we're meeting at his house, which is where the shower will be) since I haven't seen him in almost a month.  Tonight I'll be home taking care of DH.  He's still not able to walk on his right leg, making everything a challenge.  After coming home from work yesterday, he barely moved off of the couch to do anything, then went to bed at 7:30.

Saturday: Hosting a ladies night with my upstairs neighbor.  Our street has GTGs about once a month, taking turns hosting and such.  I'm really looking forward to a night of social time and friends.

Sunday:  Have an appt with the Apple store to see if they can figure out why our wireless base station stopped working after I moved it to the other side of the room.  I'm now forced to plug in to the modem directly and sit on the edge of the bed instead of at a desk or the couch.  I painted our bedroom and rearranged the furniture on Tuesday and nothing has worked properly since.  Here's to hoping that they fix it free! :)

Has there been any updates on anything since the 'surprise' wedding?

  • Tonight: DH is working on the ambulance again, so he won't be back until tomorrow morning, so tonight I will just tidy up a bit around here and lounge around with the kids.

Tomorrow: We are having L's 4th birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's. It should be really nice. That same family and friends are coming that came to K's 1st birthday, but it will be nice that I don't have to worry about preparing food and running around like a chicken with its head cut off!

Sunday: DH goes back to work on the ambulance, and another 24 hour shift. I really am getting tired of him working like this. It puts a strain on me and our relationship. The extra money is nice, but I would definitely give that up to have my husband home a little more.

  • Tonight: Probably nothing. I'm really tired and finally getting over this sinus infection so I'm trying to enjoy a headache-free night.

Saturday: DH has to work for a few hours and then we don't have anything planned.

Sunday: Church in the morning and then going to a friend's bridal shower.

  • Well, Friday I had dinner and yogurt with some friends.  A sorority sister drove up from Dallas to hang out, so a few of us got together.  It was a fun time.

Today, I spent the day at my husband's motorcycle shop helping out.  It was pretty slow, so I spent most of the day reading.  I have reintroduced myself to the local library.  And I got 4 books last week.  The one I'm reading is Middlesex- fiction about a Greek-American Hermaphrodite.  While DH can't understand why I'm finding it interesting, I can't put it down. It's so good.  My parents are also on their way up, so we will all go eat tonight and hang out.

Tomorrow- DH, my parents and I are headed 1.5 hours north to visit my aunt (the one who was in the hospital right before the wedding).  We love visiting her and her husband...they are so fun!  They live in a cabin in the woods with nothing around.  We go and eat a big country meal and sit and talk and watch all the wildlife around their cabin.  It is so fun! I can't wait!

Has there been any updates on anything since the 'surprise' wedding?

OMG.  So much drama.  She is having a lot of doubts and can't make a decision for herself.  We went shopping on Friday for fabric for the tops of jam jars we are using at her shower.  All ettiquite says she should have no part, but because her mom is helping, so is she - and has opinions on EVERYTHING.  We spent an HOUR in a fabric store while she wavered between this and that and how there wasn't enough of one to use it but the two didn't go together.  After shooting down my every suggestion all day regarding what to do, when to meet, etc., they finally asked my opinion.  I told them, "if you weren't here with me, I would pick this (with fabric in hand) because it goes with this (another in hand) and that (pointing to one on the shelf)."  We ended up with the three I chose and will have a mix.  It's been also tough seeing how he treats her and gets upset when something doesn't go HIS way, thus making her upset and miserable to be around.

...and not to sound bitter or greedy, but... a mutual friend of ours is buying her a $500 stroller (the one she wanted) but gave us less than the cost of her and her daughter's meal at our budget-friendly wedding.  If there is anyone in my life who can afford that stroller, it's BFF and her new H.

I'm really looking forward to next Sunday when I can wash my hands of the shower and take a few steps back.  I'm looking forward to having a bit before the baby arrives and the drama begins again.

    Thanks for asking, Misa!
