The two weeks is over!

My man is coming home today!!!  I'm soooooo excited, but I have to say, these past two weeks haven't been as bad as I thought they'd be.  I have kept really busy, started running and working out every day, and I feel great!  Our house is really nice and clean and I got the kitchen painted while he was gone, and some new pictures hung on the walls - he is going to see a definite improvement since he's been gone :D

Of course, we only have 5 days together until he's off again, but we're damn well going to make the most of these 5 days!  And when he's back from THAT trip, it'll be time for our HONEYMOON.  Ohhhh man I'm pumped, I'm in SUCH a good mood today :):):):)

I'm curious too! What does he do that has him gone so often?? I'll bet you both are EXTRA excited to spend some alone time together on your trip!!

  • He works for Hockey Canada.  HC is the organization that manages all the hockey in Canada.  There are 4 centers across the country, and he is the boss here at the center for our region (East).  As I'm sure you all know, hockey is basically a religion here in Canada, so he is SO busy.  It never stops, and you'd honestly think that summer would be the slow time, but it absolutely isn't.  He's gone most of the summer, he had to ask special permission just to be able to get married and go on the honeymoon.  The positive thing about it is that he absolutely loves his job.  It is basically every little boys dream to grow up and be in the NHL or to make a career out of hockey in some way.  Hubs didn't quite make it to the NHL himself, but to be a bigwig player in the development of the sport nationwide?  Yeah, he's got a great job.

  • I'm glad to hear he has such a fantastic job (even tho it takes him away from such a fantastic wife...)! Some us still-in-college types can only dream of  our dream jobs... *sigh*

Have fun with all the packing and preparations!!

  • That sounds like a great job and it wouldn't ever be boring.  I can't stand sports ... except for hockey - I love it, so does HH.  He is from VT and grew up playing hockey, they'd play games in Canada.  Fun times!!  Glad he's home for a bit :)
  • woo hoo.  Hope you enjoy the next five days!  Is he usually gone for two week periods?

My HH is leaving tomorrow for another week.  He travels a few times a year for work, but this month has been especially bad.  Two weeks in South Africa and now he's going to a conference in West Virginia.

  • Thanks guys, it is SO GOOD to have him home!!  We had a great night last night, we went to the Busker Festival that's happening downtown and we also went out for dinner.  It was a lot of fun!  We went to church and then out for breakfast this morning, and now he's having a much needed nap on the couch before we go visit some friends for dinner and Big Brother tonight :)  I really didn't mind the two weeks as much as I thought I would, but ohhhhhhhhhh my it's nice having him back!!!

Jen, two weeks is the longest that he's gone, unless he's got a big tournament or something, but the ones that he'd need to attend only happen maybe once a year.  When he leaves this week he'll only be gone for 6 days, and then it's honeymoon time.  He has to leave again the DAY after we get back from the HM, and I think he's only gone a week then.  Maybe a week and a half.  After that he's home for at least a month, I think!!!

  • Enjoy your time together! Glad it wasn't that bad for you! Have fun with that man of yours!
  • Glad he's back! Matt's house- and dog-sitting for a coworker all week. It would double my commute time to stay with him, and we can't leave the kitty all alone, so I'm going to be on my own for the next few days. I'm not taking it with nearly as much grace as you have!
