Hi Ladies - I just moved to Potsdam from Phoenix, AZ and wondered if anyone knew the area and what to check out. Hubby got a job at SUNY Potsdam (which doesn't start until late August) and I have yet to find full time work...

So other than unpacking boxes and sitting on the porch talking to neighbors (which is something I never did in AZ, and am loving it), we have a lot of free time on our hands to explore the area. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to NYS! While the weather is still nice, I'd highly recommend an overnight or day trip to the 1000 Islands area. There are some great boat tours, restaurants,etc.

    I've only been to Potsdam a few times, but the river looks so pretty and the downtown area is cute in an old fashioned way. There is an awesome Mexican place just off the main street, not sure what it's called, but it's probably the only one there! My sister loved going up to Canada when she lived there.

    Thanks ladies - I've only been up here for a week, but am really learning to enjoy all the new things I come upon. I guess the good thing about a small town is that by the end of the year (H's job may only last a year), I'll have probably seen what all has to be seen! :) Looking forward to heading to Canada too - we are so close not too (I think 15 miles away from the actual border). The next question: Ottawa or Montreal?
