If you're looking for a church

This morning my fiance' and I attended a church service at Mosaic for the first time. They are currently in the process of renovating their church building so the service was held at a local hotel. I can honestly say the music and sermon was the one of the most meaningful Ive ever been a part of. Their next service is going be August 22nd and the new church opens on September 12th. For anyone that's looking for a church I would highly recommend them. They are non-denominational and located in Cary.

Re: If you're looking for a church

  • I've been looking for something near Cary, that will fit my fiance and me.  Could you tell me more about the service, either here or via PM?
  • Certainly. Service was contemporary. Husband and wife are worship pastors who write and play most of the songs. I really enjoyed the music. It brought me to tears. Another husband and wife team are the lead pastors. Sermon was engaging and inspirational. Everyone seemed very friendly. They have the philosophy that even if their church does not seem like the right fit for you they will do whatever they can to help you find the kind of church you seek (I really appreciated that) They have a website as well. If you do decide to come to their service on the 22nd I'll be there. If you have other questions just let me know and I'll be happy to try and answer them.

  • Thanks!  You were really helpful, actually.  The last church we tried just gave me the heebie jeebies, since they had a Starbucks and an in-house rock band.  It didn't really make me comfortable, but I appreciate that they would try and help you find somewhere that works for you even if it's not them.

I think we'll be checking them out on the 22nd, I went to their website and we definitely want to try them out.  Maybe I'll see you there!

  • That's wonderful. Look forward to seeing you all there on the 22nd.

Are you talking about Hope Community Church?  That is where we go and we love it.  Even though they sell starbucks, the people that work at the "cafe" are all volunteers.  All the money goes to help the community.  I know the church isn't for everyone, but we adore it and the band/music is a huge part of what we love.

  • Yes, my fiance used to go there and we stopped because the people in the group were not welcoming nor inclusive to him (he went there while I was finishing school, and I went for the occasional service) and the music and atmosphere was a huge turnoff to me.  So we're trying to find a place that will be more of a fit for us.  I prefer more traditional services myself, being raised Catholic, but he really likes the newer, nondenominational services so I'm trying to find a happy middle.

  • Just to throw in my 2 cents, we went to Fairmont United Methodist in downtown Raleigh yesterday and really loved it.  We went to their Sunday evening service at 7:00pm which is a nice mix of traditional (a few hymns with traditional prayers) and contemporary (they have visiting musicians in each Sunday for a variety of music).  They were welcoming without being pushy, which has been something hard for us to find.  Also, they are VERY involved in the community and even have a Social Justice Team!  This is something that is also very important for us!
  • I am so glad to have found this post!  DH and I are brand new to the area and have been looking for a church as well.  We both grew up Presbyterian/Methodist so the non-denominational churches make me a little hesitant or reserved.  I like them, I am just careful about trusting in new churches since I'm old-fashioned.  Anyway, one weekend we tried White Plains United Methodist church and went to the contemporary service.  We loved everyone we met and the songs they chose to worship with but we didn't feel like it is where we belong.  It was also a weird weekend missing the normal pastor-and the sermon wasn't really a sermon... anyway this past weekend we tried out Vintage 21.  It is a non-denom. contemporary church in downtown Raleigh.  It's where they used to have Jillians.  It was really nice.  I'm torn.  I just don't want to end up in a cult!!! Vintage 21 says they want you to give them a fair try and that is 6 weeks of church with them.  I think we're going to do it!  Who knows, maybe we'll see you at Mosaic someday!  IDK!

  • Sounds great! My fiance and I actually got a hand written note in the mail from the pastor today thanking us for being a guest and saying he hoped we were encouraged and blessed =)
