shelving

posted this on D&R but thought i'd ask you guys too Smile

anyone seen a good tutorial/photos for DIY open shelving?? we have no cabinets in our utility room and i was thinking of putting in some open shelving. i'm thinking big wood brackets & wide shelves but I can't seem to find a photo of what i'm thinking of to show hubby.  so far this is the best i can find but what i'm envisioning is kinda in between what they have (not as substantial as the ones on the left but heavier than the ones on the right). [kitchen.jpg]{photo credit:http://poppytalk.blogspot.com/2009/09/inspiration-french-kitchen.html}

anyone have an inspiration pics they can share/blogs to point me to? i'm coming up empty handed and I know i've seen them before somewhere! TIA

Re: shelving

  • those are definitely along the lines of what i'm thinking. i think i can use the first one to show hubby what i'm envisioning... thanks!
  • I was over at Home Depot getting some stuff to put in a new closet shelf last week, and I noticed that at ours, they have a huge selection of corbels and brackets now.  I don't know if yours is the same way, but if they have the same stuff ours has it would make that a super-easy project.  All the corbels and brackets at ours were in the same lumber aisle as the 1x12s.
