DH and I are planning a vacation to HHI, but neither of us have been there before. Anyone have recs for places to stay, or things to do?
Thanks
Re: Hilton Head recs
It's been a few years since I've stayed there, but the the Holiday Inn Oceanfront on S. Forest Beach Dr. is reasonably priced(for a beach front hotel) and clean.
DH likes to go to Sea Pines, Harbour Town, and go up in the lighthouse, and look at the yachts. There's also some good restaurants in Sea Pines.
We've always rented condos that we find on VRBO, usually in Palmeto Dunes, also the Westin in Port Royal is nice. Last time we went we ate at Red Fish and it was awesome! Love going down to South Beach and eating at Salty Dog and listening to the live music they have on the weekends.
Have fun!
Def. check out vrbo for oceanfront condos. South Forest beach is (if you're facing the ocean) towards the right of the Holiday Inn. North Forest Beach is towards the left of Holiday Inn past Coligny Plaza. We have stayed at several condos on S. Forest for $100/night or less. I'll give you a heads up though- we've been looking for a place for a few weeks with no luck. They've been slammed with all of the people who normally vacation at Gulf beaches.
I'd also rec. the Hilton oceanfront or Crowne Plaza at Shipyard. Both are pricey but 2 of the few nicer oceanfront locations that I've found that will let you book a few nights vs. a full week.
