Hey ladies! DH and I just came back from the honeymoon so I'm ready to get started on married life. :-) Does anyone recommend any name change kits or are there any links/step by step instructions that will help make the process less cumbersome? Thanks in advance!
Re: Name Change Kits
First, CONGRATS! and welcome
Personally, I thought those kits were kind of a waste of money. I just made a list of things I wanted to change my name on.
First go get your Social Security and License changed. Those are easy, just time consuming since you have to wait in line. You'll need your signed marriage license of course.
After I got my new license and SS card I just started going through my wallet, changed my CCs and bank accounts that way. Then I went to work, changed my name there. I still haven't changed my passport...
Passport prices just went up from $70 to $130. I changed mine just in time.
I also think those kits are a waste of money. I did pretty much what Angelaggie did. The SS office really didn't take that long, the drivers license office took forever though. I swear they only called like two people every 30 minutes.
Well, son of a b!tch
ditto! that's the one thing I never changed... oh well, I guess I'll just fly internationally with my maiden name!
TTC #1 since February 2011
BFP #1 1/14/12 EDD 9/24/12 m/c at 8w4d on 2/20/12
March 2012- Dx with PCOS, started metformin
July 2012- SA completely normal
this is what I've been doing. my passport doesn't expire until next year so I didn't want to pay to have it changed. I just book my airline ticket with my maiden name, haven't had an issue.
There's still no fee if your passport is less than one year old and you're just doing a name change:
