My new favorite house!

I am inlove with this house!

image

Here is the link for the layout of it.

Some things we are going to change are eliminate 2 of the bathrooms upstairs and put in additional laundry room (as much as they would love their own bathroom as a teenager, they don't need it).   Also we are going to put the master bed and bath upstairs, over the living room. I asolutely love the her closet!!!

Dh started drawing it out this weekend! I am excited!

I LOVE that the front of the house as brick, siding, and rock. DH doesn't like the brick becausehe said brick is pretty pricey (quite a bit more then siding), but I REALLY want the brick on it, so we shall see.

Re: My new favorite house!

  • Very nice! I'm excited for you!
  • Very nice!! You could do a Jack and Jill bathroom up there, I always thought those were cool!

  • What a great layout!  The master suite is absolutely amazing!!  And I agree with pp, a jack and jill bathroom would be nice if you could work that into the plans.

Oh, and I am with you on the brick.  I think it would a) look really nice, and b) while it is expensive up front, then you never have to worry about replacing the siding.  I am guessing you aren't planning on moving out of this house for quite a while, and not having to worry about that would be nice.  We have a brick house, and I know that was one of my favorite things about it.  Brick is little to no maintenance!  :)

  • That is an awesome layout!

What will be where the downstairs master is? Or would you just shape it different? If you are not going to have that room there I would make the laundry room a little bigger.

  • Wow, that's awesome!!!  How exciting! :)

  • So are you replacing one of the bedrooms upstairs as the master and making the master suite a spare bedroom? I'm confused. The split garages are an interesting idea (DH would love all that space), the front porch and large deck are great outdoor areas, nice! I would definitely do the brick and not replace it w/siding. I love love love our brick house and they're always the ones in our neighborhood that sell quickly. Yes, it might be more money, but it's never gone out of style, and you'll never say "I wish we hadn't gone w/the brick."

  • Love it!  Would love to have a house even half that size!  I'd kill just to have 2 bathrooms!

  • Well while I love the high ceiling in the living room, DH says its a lot of wasted space so we will have our master above that area. Then where the mastewr is down stairs we will make it into a laundry room, mudroom, prob bathroom, and dh had a few other ideas for it. I am going to fight him on the brick. We will live here for the rest of our lives, well at least then next 30+ years so I want it exactly as I want. And imo the mixture of Stone, brick, and siding "make the house", kwim.

That's what I was thinking but you never know. The open great rooms aren't really done anymore. You're going to have so much space you're not going to know what to do with it :) Good luck starting the project - what a huge job to be undertaking!

I think you should for sure go for the brick! I like the way the front looks in the pics. Would you use a similar siding color?

It will be nice to have all of the bedrooms on one floor, too I think. And where the master is on the floor plan would give you tons of room for a mud/bath/laundry area and I think it would be really nice with the kids to be able to enter the house straight in to a room like that so they aren't getting the rest of the house dirty after playing outside.

Where the laundry area on there is would make an amazing big pantry. ;-)

Definately the same color siding. I love the colors!!

DH insist we have a walk in pantry, so we will have one in that area too. :)

  • Oh my goodness, I completely love that house!  I love those great rooms where it's a 2 story ceiling, and that master is TO DIE FOR.  I mean, wow.  And I totally love brick. :)
