I think we'll get the health exp. deduction

I was just writing down amounts and filing receipts, and I decided to figure up our list. DH and I have already spent over $3100 on health expenses this year. Sad Last year we got the deduction because of DH's eye surgery and my OB bill with Lincoln. This year we have Lincoln's delivery and my new OB bill for baby #2, plus all the regular stuff throughout the year.

Ugh, I totally feel you.  Health expenses are ridiculous.  I have insurance out of pocket- that totals to about $1500 per year for me alone (and that doesnt include co pays or RX costs).  If an insurance company would accept DH for a healthcare plan, the cost for us would be through the roof b/c of his cancer diagnosis almost 10 years ago.  He continuously has foot and leg problems, and occasionally with have to go to a walk in clinic...where they do nothing for him.  The cost of that is insane too :(

Are you guys saving now for when you deliver baby #2?  Hang in there, I know its tough!

  • I haven't even add ours up but I have a feeling we will be able to take a medical deduction. Medical bills suck

  • Oh Heather, I'm sure you will too! I thought of you when I was posting that. I'd be scared to add yours up too!

We aren't really saving for anything specific for the baby, just baby fund in general. We will probably use our tax refund to pay for the delivery though.  If I am able to go med-free again, it won't be too bad. After insurance paid on the delivery and L's hospital stay, I think we only owed about $700. This time it will be about $1700 though because we will have to pay the deductible. Yeah, this kid is going to kill us. We have to pay our deductible twice on him/her! From now on we will only be TTC Jan-March! lol
