DH is bored and making me crazy
DH was sent home from work after a 3rd dr's appt for his leg. It's now pretty badly infected. He won't stay off of it and I keep sending him back to the couch. The problem is that he's bored to pieces. He's caught up on sleep, not much on tv.... I'm out of ideas. I just sat him back down and can hear him going into the garage and closing cabinets in the kitchen. UGH! I feel like I have a toddler on my hands.
I'm used to having the house to myself all day, getting the chores done, laundry, etc. He's almost never home and hates being house-bound.
Any suggestions? I tried board games last night and that failed. Wii is too active right now, our wireless internet isn't working, so I can't set him up on my laptop in the living room....

Re: DH is bored and making me crazy
for fun:
DVDs? Was he ever into the Godfather series? Have him watch that ;-) Actually, my husband would love that. I've heard other people like Band of Brothers too.
get him a good book? or he could learn a new language or learn about anything else?
find a place you'd like to vacation, buy him a touring guide and have him plan the trip...
or to be more household productive ...
Do you have any recipes you need typed up. I had collected random recipes through the years-- cut out from magazines and newspapers, some given to me by friends. I spent an afternoon typing them up and organizing them all so I wouldn't have these random papers stashed somewhere (and thus never used). Or perhaps he can organize photos, whether they are digital or stashed somewhere in a box... Have him clip and organize coupons...he may not love all these things, but he may enjoy being productive and contributing, and you get something done in the end too.
GL!
I can feel your pain, this was my situation when DH had knee surgery in December. I was lucky that he got a Kindle for Christmas, so that helped occupy his time. Otherwise it was DVDs and books. I rented "Rome" for him which is an HBO series and having a series to watch that he was interested in did help.
It was tough because my DH hates television, so it was hard getting him to sit still. Are there any computer games he might like? Do you have a Wii? DH did play "Rockband" as well (of course he hasn't touched it since).
Good luck, it's definitely not fun! I had to leave my DH with a orange juice container when I went back to work because he couldn't get off the couch by himself to go to the bathroom. TMI, I know!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm hoping the dr clears him to go back to work soon. Today he went in to work, then the dr and the dr sent him home. He arrived and decided that chasing me around the house and poking me was productive while I tried to get chores done.
Unfortunately, I married a man whose dyslexia has me reading just about everything other than ads and menus for him. I went and rented a couple movies for tonight. Our wireless internet is still not working, so it's just me who can connect using the hard-wired connection by taking my laptop to the modem.
H tried playing Wii for a while, but because he wasn't able to move he started to feel seasick. He's hooked up to the IceMan (which is the greatest invention for keeping an injury cold EVER) and taking a nap now. I'm hoping it lasts at least 2 hours.....
Sorry I'm debbie downer today. It's frustrating to feel like I can't do anything and have him be bored to pieces.
Another good series to buy on DVD is "The Wire." It is SO addictive and DH and I would stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching it because you cannot stop watching it! That should keep him busy.
Also, a good Wii game is Super Mario Bros. It doesn't take any activity and it's a classic that's updated and it's still fun.
The only other thing I can think of is to get him lots of books and let him sit on your balcony or porch in a comfy chair. He sounds a lot like my DH who just can't sit still even if someone tells him he should. I don't know what I'm going to do with two children in the house LOL
we've heard that's good too. we've been meaning to check it out.
Our friends let us borrow her DVD set and even after watching it I was ready to go out and buy it and watch it again.
My DH had a "Game Ready" which is essentially the same thing. What an amazing invention! Although after 3-4 weeks I got tired of filling it with ice and water! Good luck, hopefully he can go back to work soon!
