Hey ladies!
Summers are crazy busy for me, but since I have a few minutes, I thought I'd check in.
Updates:
Vik just accepted a new job, which is a huge step up for him and I'm so proud! The commute will suck, but the job title and increase in pay are well worth it.
No news on our short sale. It's apparently been in a 30-day review process for the past two weeks, so I'm hopeful that we'll hear something soon.
Our neighbor is a being a d-bag again and we might adopt his dog. Details here: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/40269636.aspx Any advice is appreciated.
Oh, and my soccer team is first in our league right now! I'm so glad I started playing again. I really missed it.
That's all in my world.
Hope you all are doing well!

Re: Update
It's good to hear from you. Congrats to Vik!
Congrats on being first in your league with soccer! How exciting!
Are you still going strong with weddings?
I hope everything works out with the dog. We just adopted one this weekend and it's sooo exciting!!!!
Our dog is mainly lab but part pitbull. He is definitely still hyper and he's 4 years old! Pitbulls are probably the most high energy dog out there. My one word of advice is to get a treadmill if you don't already have one (you can probably find one used very easily) and train her to run on it! We do this with our dog in the winter and he loves it. Otherwise, he loves playing fetch and that's a good way to wear him out as well.
I hope it works out, she is so cute!
do you guys have dog parks around you? If you do that's a good way to get some of that energy out! Once she's trained and knows some commands, those things will wear her out since her little mind will be entertained
Initially we probably spent around $500 on Isabelle for a crate, bed, food and first vet visit. Every time we went to the vet for regular care is about $200-250 because we get a years supply of the heartguard and advantix/frontline. Food costs about $50 per 2-3 months depending on how hungry the monster gets. We probably spend $10/month on toys including peanut butter for her kong.
Your neighbor is a jerk. Can I come beat him up?
Hey lady! Glad to see you here! Congrats on soccer and Vik's new job! That's super exciting. Hasn't he been working at his store for years? That must be a scary (but excellent) change for him.
Awesome news!
As for the dog, I think you have a heart of gold for thinking about taking her in. She's really really cute. My friend has a pitbull and he's the greatest dog, but I've heard him say he would think twice before getting another pit in the future because people can get freaked out by them. His pitbull is so well behaved and actually kind of a ***, but people are so judgmental. He has a hard time finding places to accommodate the dog when he leaves town. But all that aside, I understand that your heart seems to have already fallen for this dog and I think it's a good decision.
Dogs can be really expensive, but we started an account for Isabelle expenses. Instead of paying for pet insurance we set aside what we would pay for insurance and put it in an account for when we need it. There have been times she's been rushed to the vet and they are pricey!
Congrats to Vik on his new job! That's awesome! and congrats to your soccer team!
If you do end up adopting the dog, I'd get pet insurance. It is by far the best money I spend every month on Buddy. I mean, we do take Buddy to the vet a lot and probably more than most people take their dogs because he's got so many health problems, but overall we get back about 50% of what we pay at the vet. I think it's worth it. And they cover 1 spay/neuter per dog. Dogs can be expensive with the shots and heartworm/flea/tick prevention they need, but most shots are annual (rabies is every 3 years though) and if you get a healthy dog then you probably won't have many more vet visits than the well visits/shot visits.
A lot of people in the animal world are getting the word out about pitties these days. I would get one just to shove it in their face that they're the sweetest dogs ever. I nannied one summer with a pittie and she was a big loaf, she was so sweet, just wanted to cuddle ha!
A quick search found there's a pit/rottie rescue in your area: http://www.arottalove.org/ They could be a good resource for you in places that you could board her or vets that are good with your breed.
Thanks for all the great advice!
Nami, he's been at his current store for over 9 years so this will be a huge change, but a good one!
Our neighbor is cotinuing to be a jerk so, yes, Kara, feel free to beat him up. He's now decided that he'd rather see how much money he can get for her before he'll just give her to us. I could kick him in the shins. However, I'm afraid to piss him off too much because I'm afraid he'd trash the house (in the event that the bank accepts our offer) out of spite. Unlikely, but with the way he has been acting lately, I wouldn't put it past him. Ugh.
margaritas in mexico
Ugh, I so want to kick his AAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS
I hate that he wants to sell her to make $$$, it's just wrong. I don't actually know if he can sell her legally...just tell him that. haha. Ugh.
