I feel like all too often, people (in general, not specifically you ladies) take for granted all that this area has to offer. It's easy to look at the negatives, but I want this post to be about the positives!!
What are some of your favorite things about this area?
What are your favorite things to do?
What's something that we probably take for granted, but are actually lucky to have?
Re: The Toledo Area
I totally agree with this and I felt the same way about Detroit when I lived there.
Locally owned restaurants. We have so many amazing places here that there is no need for chain dining in my opinion.
What are some of your favorite things about this area? The people, the weather (even though I complain about it, it's nice to actually get 4 seasons), the landscape in outlying areas (it may be flat, but I still think it's quite pretty)
What are your favorite things to do? Parks, Art Museum, Zoo, Bars/Restaurants, Mud Hens / Walleye Games
What's something that we probably take for granted, but are actually lucky to have? I think many of the things listed above. Our parks system is AWESOME, we have a world-class Zoo and Art Museum, and we have a huge selection of dining options for a city our size. Also, being on the river and so close to the lake, plus Cedar Point, PIB, etc. are all within a short drive. Oh, and all of the festivals/fairs too!
Great post!! I love Toledo and I get SO sick of people bitching about it. I've lived here my whole life and will probably always live here.
What are some of your favorite things about this area? LOW COST OF LIVING!!! People never appreciate that. We have some of the lowest property taxes in the country. Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art, awesome Metroparks, great university, two great shopping malls, close to Detroit, Ann Arbor, awesome OH and MI outlet shopping, lots of local fairs/festivals, great concert venues, farmer's market, Libbey Glass... we're one of the few cities in the US to have more restaurants per captia than any other city.
What are your favorite things to do? Mud Hens and Walleye games, go to the zoo (in the spring/summer/fall and the Lights Before Christmas), go to the museum, go to UT sporting events (we got Rocket football season tickets and might get basketball, too).
What's something that we probably take for granted, but are actually lucky to have? Everything I listed above.
I give this post 5 stars!! It is totally true, and I am as guilty as anyone complaining often of not having anything to do when there is soo much in Toledo to do.
What are some of your favorite things about this area? Being so close to the water. I wish there was more being done about keeping the rivers and the bay and lake cleaner. It is an awesome resource!
What are your favorite things to do? Going to the Zoo, the Mudhens, Taking walks and photographing at the metroparks and Botanical Gardens. Love Festival season, and live for the german fest.
What's something that we probably take for granted, but are actually lucky to have? Like I said above the parks and botanical gardens, The lake and river, the historical sites like Ft, Meigs and whatnot, they are all awesome things that NWOhio have to its advantage that most people just dont seem to care too much about.
I actually quite like Detroit - it's got three things that keep me easily entertained: sports, casinos, and concerts!
What are some of your favorite things about this area? I won't repeat everything pp said (museum, zoo, restaurants etc) b/c I love all those things. I love the libraries. I love my neighborhood. I love that I can get all the way across town in 20ish min. I love that we don't have to deal w/smog. I love the locally owned shops and coffeehouses. I love that my family lives the in same area so I can see them at any time.
What are your favorite things to do? trying different restaurants, boating, Cedar Point, just being at home!
What's something that we probably take for granted, but are actually lucky to have? Little traffic, close to major cities and airports (relatively), low cost of living, great hospitals and supporting care services.
