How was your birthday? Also...a birthday party at a funeral home?? Do tell.

Ah, it was ok. I got pretty pissed off at one point because everyone kept saying that it was my last birthday before I have a child to deal with. My MIL reminded me that once we have a child all of our gifts stop. I kindly informed her that gifts to/from my parents would not stop. It hurt her feelings but I just really didn't care. I will always be my parents child and they will always be my parents... Grandkids don't change that. I went to Pop's in Arcadia for lunch with my ILs and then Texas Roadhouse for dinner with a bunch of my family (and got terribly sick from all the junk that night). It wasn't what I would have chose for the day but I did get a strawberry birthday cake so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. I just really wanted the weekend to be about me and it really wasn't.
The birthday party was for an 80 and 85 year old on my FIL side of the family. I have seriously only met them twice and was less than thrilled about driving an hour but what could I do?
It was interesting, it looked decent and the room was actually pretty nice with a bunch of tables and chairs (and no caskets). Even the guy singing (I guess they hired him?) kept talking about how odd it was. I seriously felt a couple of cool breezes while we sat there eating our dinner. I have to say it was the strangest place I have ever had a meal. Nothing quite like it, that's for sure!
It's your birthday and yes, it's your last one before LO comes, so it should be about you. Even after LO comes...it should still be about you. At least you got strawberry cake!
Yes, it would be a tad odd to be eating in a funeral home. At least the singer thought so too. Haha! Sounds like you had an eventful weekend
