You green paint story in Tracy's post reminded me of our house when we moved in... the people living there before apparently thought it would be fantastic to paint to hallway chocolate brown. Unfortunately they were either trying to go for some faux look or ran out of paint because the hallway was (1) only painted about 3/4 of the way to the ceiling (the ceiling is VERY high, but still...) and (2) the two walls of the hallway were painted two different shades of brown. :( FAIL. Oh, and our bathroom & kitchen were painted the same FUGLY burnt orange color. :) Yay. Hahaha. Thank God for primer.

Oh oh oh... and the Finding Nemo wallpaper border in the bathroom - to die for!

Stick out tongue

Re: ::Cindy::

  • Ugh, what are people thinking.

    This one was a hoot.  Our realtor kept pointing out all the appliances we would get in this "gem" of a house.  They left behind their TV in the master, and a washer, dryer and refridgerator.

    The kitchen had carpet and the master had tile and a doggie door.  The kids bedrooms had murals on the textured walls of bunnies and their closets were ripped up and odd shelving was in it's place.  Oh and the second bathroom was fun.  The toliet and shower were behind one closed door and outside in the halway was the sink.

  • Carpet in the kitchen?!?! Holy unsanitary nightmare of grossness!

    The things people do in their houses is awesome. And then others get to go behind them and fix everything. The only appliances we had were a microwave, range, & dishwasher - all not in working order. Yay. lol. Actually I think the range did work, otherwise FHA never would have let the sale go through. It was just super old & just... so disgusting. Oh, and our place has some crappy old fireplace in it - also doesn't work. Hahaha.

    It sounds like the people who owned the house you looked at weren't ready to sell. Was it a foreclosure or short sale? Those are almost always trashed unless the bank is willing to put a little $$ into it... which they are rarely willing to do.

  • Right?

    ETA: Sorry, TN added it before I was done.

    But actually it was a standard sale which makes the whole thing even more bizarre.  I just wondered if they thought more people would have taste like them then not.

    Exactly, I know things were like that a few years ago. People were just buying... whatever, because it was such a sellers market. I know the market has changed, but there's definitely still that same sentiment out there. And if you're on the verge of losing your house, then I guess you don't care much anyways. It's sad though because your house is a reflection of yourself.
