How soon is too soon...

to renew your vows?

I cannot wait to do this!  I feel like all the little things that went wrong on the wedding day will be corrected at our vow renewal ceremony/party.  lol

they do. and with fun themes.

  • Idk,  I wasn't sure if that was a bit much (to do it yearly).

Question #2, would it be strange to implement the yearly policy if we didn't do it for our first year?

haha I think unless you're famous with an unending money supply, most people would find it odd to do it every year. That's just my opinion though. 5 years is probably about the earlier legit time for average people to do it! But then again, do what ya want!! :-D

lol you could be different and do it on the even years if you want to =) IDK if you want to wait for a monumental anny like 5 or 10 years then what if you can casey just re-stated your vows to eachother in your own private romantic way :) like a candle light dinner?

  • I think yearly is much...it wouldn't be as special as if you waited 5 or 10 years to do it.

  • DH and I are going to try and renew ours on our one year.  My wedding was nice, but not what DH and I wanted.  We did it more for family.

So, we hope to do an elopement/renewal in Sedona this year

  • I've thought about this. We plan to take a big anniversary trip every five years. I'd like to do a vow renewal on one of those trips at some point... prob the earliest I would do it would be 10 years. I can see why some people might do it at five years, but that feels a little too soon for me. And we'd probably just do it on the beach in cabo (where we had our honeymoon), just the two of us.

For our fifth anniversary, I really want to do a romantic, candlelit dinner on the beach.

  • Glad I'm not the only one thinking about this. I think yearly could be a special thing but I don't really think you should do a full out renewal ceremony thing for your one year. But maybe renewed to each other privately.

We want to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary, on the beach in Maui. It will be for us and only us. Whoever wants to be there can but it will be how our wedding should have been. Neither of our parents stayed married longer then a few years so 5 years doesn't seem too soon for me.

    Such a good point!

I just hope we do something fun for our two year, our one year kinda sucked.

Ditto this.  I could see us doing it for our 10 year anniversary, but just the two of us.  The only time I would consider doing it with other people around would be a 25th or 50th anniversary- anything else is a little too AW-ish IMO.   I would give the side-eye if any of my friends or family wanted to have a vow renewal party when it wasn't a big anniversary.

  • We plan to do ours for our 10 year anniversary and we want to do it in a tropical resort.  We would love to do Hawaii or somewhere in the Caribbean.

Wow....really? What's so wrong with people wanting to renew their vows before 25 years? I think it's a great idea and is NOT in any way AWing, IMO!

  • We are planning a trip for our 5 year but it's just the two of us. Maybe we will do something more at ten years. Then probably 25, 30, you know the major ones. I don't know about doing it every year, unless it's just you and your hubby, something low key.

I thought the same thing... why hate on people who want to celebrate their love for eachother with their friends and family in the same symbolic way they did on their wedding day regardless of how many years it has been?

  • I think I am definately in the minority here...I wouldn't consider doing it unless it was a major milestone...at least 25 years. Embarrassed

  • Just do what I did and get divorced after two years, meet someone new, and have a whole other wedding.  Or... not.  Yeah... don't do it my way!!!  Haha!

But seriously, am I a horrible person that I like the thought that I may someday be able to have another wedding?  Because I'm on of those people who would SO do the vow renewal every 5 years or something!
