Toledo Fertility Questions

The Toledo Bump was pretty dead, and everyone said to come over here so, here I am.

I am newly TTC and recently discovered I'm not ovulating at all. I am wondering if anyone in the area knows a good Reproductive Endocrinologist or has any tips/hints/advice? I use Dr. Rhee in Maumee right now and love her but have been told an RE can help me a lot more than an ObGyn.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows of any TTC groups in Toledo or really just any place that could be helpful. I guess my abstinence only education drilled it into my head that if I even looked sideways at a guy I would wind up pregnant, so this whole "trying" thing seems so crazy and overwhelming.

Have a great morning!

Re: Toledo Fertility Questions

  • I'm no help with your questions, but wanted to say Hi and Welcome to the board!  You should definitely stick around - we're a fun bunch! :):)

  • Welcome!!

I'm not help on the infertility front either, but I know there is a place at Toledo Hospital, I think it is called maternal and fetal medicine, you might want to look that up and give them a call.  Did you check with your OB for recs??  Usually an OB will refer you to one if you are having issues.

  • Welcome.

I did all of mine in Fort Wayne with a group out of Indy.  There is a good one in Detroit but I dont remember the name of the group.  Also your OB can help you.  There are medications that you can try first to try and kick start ovulation before going to the RE.  Talk with your OB about it.  There's a book Taking Charge of your Fertility that is a good resource of knowledge.

    Good luck to you!

  • I was also going to say to read TCOYF.  It's a really great resource to learn why and how your body reacts! (I'm not TTC but the book can also help you try to avoid as well.  I learned a TON about my body).  You can get it from library but you might want to buy it.  I keep saying I'm going to since I keep needing info from there.

Have you hung out on the getting pregnant board?  Those girls know a TON of info and might be able to help (at least some tips you can do without a RE)

    Good luck!

  • Dr. Karanits @ Toledo hospital.  It is called NW Ohio Fertility clinic 419-291-8830
  • Thanks! I've posted in a few places and got a ton of replies. It's all so complicated, lol. Like I said, I guess I just sort of assumed that one time with some donor sperm and a syringe and I'd be having multiples, lol. TV has jaded me. I've actually already got TCOYF so I'll have to read it. I bought SO many pregnancy and fertility books from the feminist book store when they had that moving sale.

You girls are the best! It's nice to have some support from some bright ladies, especially local ones. Thanks so much =]
