This was posted on my local TK board (yes, I still check in there every few days) and the answers were so fun to read! Here's our little story to get things started:
Matt and I met in high school. We were in band together all 4 years (nerd alert!), and we "knew of" each other since freshman year. We became good friends sophomore/junior year and then he sort of became my best guy friend. We particularly hit it off when we sat next to each other in English class (junior year) and we spent a lot of time together at marching band events (football games, practices, competitions). We were both dating other people all that time, but eventually (senior year), we were both single and TA-DA....here we are! Six years later and happy as clams.
Oh and now we have doubles of all the yearbooks upstairs, which I think is hilarious.
Re: How did you and DH meet?
I believe we did this on our month board on TK but it's ok. I don't mind doing it again.
DH was living with a roommate at the time and they worked together as well. DH works for AT&T and his ex roommate and him installed my cable when I lived with my mom. Well the ex roomy contacted on myspace (when that was still cool lol) and I ended up dating him for about two months. Every time I was around that guy, DH was around as well. We became really good friends, and I tried hooking him up with a few friends of mine (even my sis but nothing ever happened lol) Well things went super sour with the roomy.
DH ended up in a bad motorcycle accident and since he was my friend I went to visit him and just hang. I told him we had to go out bc he needed to get out of the house, so a bunch of friends and us went out and the following week was valentine's day and that was a first date, and after that we have been together!
I must have missed that post too b/c i dont remember it.
Hubby and I both worked out the Woodbury Commons which is a huge shopping outlet by us. He worked in this little Bistro and I worked for Maidenform which was across the way. I used to go in there for food all the time and our paths finally crossed. He had pointed me out to the cook at one point b/c he thought i was cute but was alittle shy. So the next time i was there the cook was like oh have you met Jason. We chatted it up a bit, he came to see me at the store and I gave him my number. We both went on vacations with our families and met up a month later, and the rest is history. Our 10 year anniversary is the end of August.
DH and I met online.
I had just transferred colleges and had the worse roommate you can ever imagine. I didn't know anyone at the school and I am a fairly shy person. So between doing homework I would check out local chat rooms to waste time.
DH was just returning from Iraq and stuck at an army base in NJ waiting to actually go home. She he happen to be in the same chat room wasting time.
Somehow we started talking, talked for hours(I think till 4AM-5AM). Eventually we met and have been pretty much inseparable ever since.
We both decided to go to Israel to volunteer and learn Hebrew for 6 months on a farm in the middle of the desert. Neither of us knew anyone in the program. Within a month we clicked and became an item. There was about 30 people in our program.
I like to think our teary eyes met from across the onion factory, but that's not the truth
After volunteering we traveled Israel and Spain for a month and then both went back to our homes (opposite sides of Canada and the US). We would travel to see each other during college breaks and after 2 years of that I decided to move to Florida.
We met online, through match.com
Neither one of us was having any luck meeting anyone in our town. So we both tried the online thing. Funny enough, we ended up living only about a mile apart from one another, our paths just never crossed in the tradional way.
Just after my high school graduation I found out about a huge group of my brothers? friends that hung out in the Wal-Mart parking lot in town. Since I was big into sports in high school, I was also friends with a lot of the people my brother was friends with. I started hanging out with all of them most nights of the week with my best friend at the time. We were out one night just hanging out/talking when an unfamiliar Ford pick-up pulled up in the section of the parking lot we were all around. Two new guys got out of the truck and started talking to one of the guys from my high school. I didn?t know much about DH that night, but he was wearing a Firefighter shirt and that caught my attention (side note: firefighting is HUGE in my family as almost every male member in my close family is a firefighter, including my daddy who is the assistant chief at our local department). I was much more outgoing then than I am now so I just walked up to him and started turning him around as I said, ?Turn around, I want to read your shirt.? A few nights after that we started dating and have been together ever since!
I love reliving the story of how we met & started dating! We met in Germany almost 8yrs ago when he was stationed there & I went to visit a German friend who worked on base. We saw each other for a few hours two of my nights there, exchanged emails and kept in touch but timing wasn't right. I never wanted to leave Colorado, this was an Army guy who moved around a lot so I didn't want to go there, we kept in touch as friends. Out of all the military bases, he was sent to one in Colorado but was deployed twice and we didn't see each other but still emailed. Something finally changed (both of us wondered "what if") and the day after he got back from his 2nd deployment, 6yrs after we first met, we saw each other again and have been together ever since. Here I am in the DC area far away from Colorado! I wouldn't change it for the world.
Ok, so don't judge, but Adam and I met in a bar. We were both living in GA at the time. Adam had been recovering from having two broken legs while staying at his brother's house. He was tired of being stuck at home, so after he got his casts off, he decided to go out for a couple of beers. I had been hanging out at my friend's house when another friend came over and said that she was going to meet the new guy she had started dating and a bunch of his friends and didn't want to be the only girl, so I told her I would go with her.
Well, we walk in and the bar is completely crowded (typical college town pub on a saturday night). Nowhere to sit so we're all kinda standing around at one end of the bar. Well, I see a guy get up from a barstool and walk off (Adam), so I sat down. Well, a while later, he comes back and says that I'm in his seat.... nope... at the pub, it's move your feet, lose your seat. So we argued (mildly) for a few minutes half-flirting. He then tells me about the broken legs and I felt like an ass so I tried to give him the barstool back. He refused. I saw an empty one at the table behind us, so I grab it and bring it over for him... He still refused to sit. Stubborn ass!! So I offer to buy him a beer to make up for it... he refused. Instead, he bought ME one.
So we ended up talking all night... he even went with us to the next bar we went to. He came to my apartment. Got bitten by my mom's dog that I was dog-sitting for the weekend, and we've been inseparable ever since!!! We'll have been together 4 years in August.
Yahoo Personals.
The only people who live in my town are college kids (I work at the college, so NO for lots of reasons) and old people, so I figured that I was not going to meet anybody in the traditional ways. Matt had just gotten his current position after being residential staff at the campus where he works-- he'd been on the job 24/7 for one week, then off 24/7 for another-- and he was still trying to acclimate to having consistent free time every day, a steady place to live, and not knowing anybody in the area.
He capitalized things properly and understood punctuation and spelling. He really stuck out from the pool of emails I received.

I've always said it was love at first sight for me to =]
HH and I met at church. At the time my church was looking for a pastor and HH's dad was a candidate. I knew that this preacher had 3 sons but I had never met them and was under the impression they were alot older than I was (I was 17). One Sunday night when HH's dad was supposed to preach some friends of mine had come to the service also so I was talking to them right up until the service started. I didn't notice HH had come in until after the service had been dismissed. I got up and turned around to leave and thats when I saw him. My first thought was oh my who is that?! lol My parents knew his parents from a long time ago so they introduced us that evening (and he was only 2 years older than me! lol). All we said was hey but I kept catching him looking at me when he thought I wasn't looking =] For the next month and a half we watched eachother from across the church during services and politely spoke to eachother afterwards. I was really shy but finally worked up the courage to talk to him and ask if he wanted to go to a local festival the next weekend with me and some of my friends. Well that same day he had decided to ask me out that evening so we both ened up asking eachother out lol (He still claims that I'm the one who asked him out first). After church that evening we went to a mutal friends house and watched a movie. We've been inseperable ever since!
