It's to hide her double chin. Der.
I am convinced they teach this at sororities, or filter out those who don't already know about it during rush week. I suspect the point is to make sure your arm doesn't look fat by having it rest against your side.
At this point, I assume whenever I see someone in that pose in a photo that they are a douche of epic proportions.
